I came across a full sized drum kit advertised on Facebook for a VERY good price. I sent DP to get it. It's here, in my house, and it's huge!

DS is 7, very musical, and I'm sure he'll love it, but I can't help thinking what the hell did I just do not only do I have a drumkit taking up my entire bedroom, but he's 7! He can't play, and will need lessons. Oh what have I done!? Tell me I won't regret it...

I have been with DH for 24 years. It is despite, rather than because of, the fact he plays the drums. Grin
Our marriage was saved by the purchase of electronic drums that he can play with headphones on.
Sorry, but you will regret it.

Sell it and get some electrical ones that can be used with headphones.

It'll drive you and your neighbours demented. I can just see a thread from someone living next to you now Grin

Oh Lord, what made you do that? Does your son even want to play drums? Also, a full-size drum kit is a lot for a 7 year old to manage - particularly as you don't even know if he will like it! When DS1 started drums, we bought him a term of lessons and wrapped the confirmation in a pair of drum sticks. Our local music store does good hire rates on half and full-size drums for 3 or 6 months which gave us all time to get used to the noise and him to see whether he would like it or not (He did - Grade 8 coming up soon!) How much did you pay, are they a known make - could you sell them on again?

I don't know why I did it! It was a spur of the moment thing! He has expressed interest in playing and frequently watches drumming videos on YouTube. I intend to also get him lessons.

I only paid £30, the make is Stagg (no idea if it's any good) the kit is in very good condition, he has Aspergers and takes music very seriously. He plays keyboard and is picking up guitar very quickly.

I saw it on Facebook, showed DP, said "oh DS would love that", next thing I knew it was in my house!

He will love it!

It's only £30. It sounds an amazing gift and if too noisy or neighbours are complaining sell for electric one.

I think any kid would be made up with that

Yes, was going to suggest the mute padang too. Also make sure your ds has ear defenders too.

Thanks all, we're going to keep the drums and have ordered some pads as dangly suggested. Have contacted a few tutors and just deciding who we think would be best for DS before booking lessons.
