Crochet Christmas Stocking

Last post from me today, I promise!
I'm a fairly novice crocheter but wanted to try and make my little girl a crochet Christmas stocking.
Does anyone have a simple pattern they would recommend that that I could try? I've searched for a few online but they look a bit beyond my skills at the moment!
If all fails, there's always a quick job with the sewing machine and some red velvet fabric I suppose! :-)

Dd has made a couple of these for her friends. They are pretty much granny squares joined together.

Ooh, I like them insan1ty! I have some grannies left over from a blanket, I could use that pattern maybe.

I always have a good mooch on ravelry. I always find what I want.
