Got Cluedo, monopoly, rubix race, pictionary, game of life

Would like something for Christmas day. I prefer something a bit more fast paced, personally I hate monopoly and the game of life!

ScarlettDarling · 29/11/2015 21:42

Labyrinth is fab!

Hiddlesnake · 29/11/2015 21:43

My 10yo loves Risk, but it's not really a Christmas day game!

Nearlyadoctor · 30/11/2015 01:42

Articulate is good fun especially with a few people playing.

ChipsandGuac · 30/11/2015 01:49

Apples to Apples and Q Bitz are big hits in our house.

Are there any games around that are along the lines of "Scrabble", but different, I did buy 10 y.o. scrabble, but realised he already had it.

Trickytricky · 30/11/2015 03:49

Bananagrams is like scrabble but far better IMO. Also no large box just small (banana shaped) bag. Excellent for holidays/travelling and more options than scrabble as can play few different versions.

Boggle is similar to Scrabble...

The new generation of games - things like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan, might appeal. None of these games take more than an hour to complete...

Pass the bomb is good. Fast paced and funny. Been playing it today with slightly older kids. They do a junior version though.

anotherbusymum14 · 30/11/2015 05:21

One of mine wants the ole favorite (again) Mousetrap! Its fun I suppose as you build it up and it's like an obstacle course type board game, if that makes sense.

cheekymonk · 30/11/2015 05:42

My 10 year old ds has asked for 5 second rule and pie face!

wonkylegs · 30/11/2015 05:53

We just bought pass the bomb for a 10th birthday and its gone down well and apparently is keeping the kids entertained

LibidinousSwine · 30/11/2015 06:52

I've just bought Pie Face for DS(11)
Could be a ten minute wonder but seriously, what's not to like about it?! Xmas Grin

BlueChampagne · 30/11/2015 13:07

Second Settlers of Catan.

King of Tokyo?
Forbidden Island?
Smash Up?
Good book of card games?

boardgamegeek.com/ is useful for reviews.

BathshebaDarkstone · 30/11/2015 13:13

Trivial Pursuit?

millimat · 01/12/2015 00:07
