Naice nut free Christmas Pud?

We're being hosted by MIL for Christmas dinner (yay!) and I offered to bring the Christmas pud and fizz.

I noticed year before last when we were there that SIL picked all the nuts out of hers, and apparently this is a 'thing' she does, always has.

So, I'm thinking, shall I rock up with two puds? A big one (to serve approx 8 adults) and a smaller nut free one for SIL?

Will she be charmed that I've taken her aversion to nuts in Christmas pudding into account or will she somehow take offence? (knowing my luck, she likes to pick the nuts out... O_o). I mean it IS Christmas; there's potential for etiquette horror and misunderstanding at every turn!

I suppose I could always avert that by saying, hey, I found this nut free one, but you don't have to have it?

Which leads me to my real question: do nut free christmas puds exist, and (I'm guessing they do) which is a really good one?

Thanks!

I make mine without chopped nuts, though I do use ground almonds in the recipe. You might find you won't see 'nut free' signs unless it's completely fine for people with allergies

Given nut allergy is more prevalent than ever, I figured it might exist (without having to make it!).

Thanks :)

Does it need to be a "Christmas pudding" or just a "pudding for Christmas"? I love a bit of trifle on Xmas day, or you could go for Yule log, it all manner of other yummy things.

  • "or all manner..." not it.

Oh, it needs to be christmas pudding. Far be it from me to say MIL is stuck in her ways with what will be served/expected for Christmas dinner but...

She is. Grin

That said, she makes an EPIC trifle for Boxing Day, so hurrah!
