Made my first (extremely delicious) mince pies of the season on Saturday, and in my warm, fuzzy, Christmassy state I posted the results on social media - only to receive a barrage of unpleasant and critical comments basically telling me I was ridiculous. Fuzzy feeling has gone and I've deleted the photo, but wanted to ask if the rest of you get this reaction when you prep for Christmas early, and how you deflect the criticism. Am probably being too sensitive, but I feel like my Christmas spirit has been dimmed somewhat...

I don't tend to post on Facebook as I think I'd get the same. DP looks like this Hmm every year when I start with Christmas.
I've watched 2 Christmas films this weekend and organised my calendar. I've filled it with Christmas markets, Carol services and lovely cosy Christmas walks.

Stick to the Christmas board here and bring back your Christmas spirit Smile

Ah no I never tell anyone I've started early, the whole point is to pretend you find it all effortless, and you made you house look stunning and bought perfect presents with no effort at all Wink

Well, it is a bit early for mince pies.

The beginning of November is hardly the start of 'the season' (assuming you mean Christmas).

If you'd waited until Advent at least, the response might have been better.

Here in this lovely hot chocolatey, tinsel adorned cosy corner of mumsnet filled full of SAS bargain hunters we luff you for making mince pies in November.

But, much like swinging, being a vegan or an interest in koi carp you'd best keep it off Facebook Xmas Grin

Can't see why mince pies are only for Christmas anyway - surely they should be an all-winter thing? They're lovely!

franksidebottom · 09/11/2015 14:40

Definitely not to early for mince pies, I'm going to make a batch with my dd on sunday, and I'm going to put a pic on fb if I want to. I would rather see mince pies than all those britain first posts. If anyone tells me it's to early I shall tell them in the nicest possible way where they can shove itGrin

OSETmum · 09/11/2015 14:43

I don't see why mince pies are just for Christmas either, they're just a food and food is for whenever!

ahbollocks · 09/11/2015 14:58

Miserable bastards. I totally agree that warm mince pies are for any wintery blustery wet day.

I would have put that emoji of hearts for eyes u derneath your pic.

scarlets · 09/11/2015 15:18

How unkind! You can put whatever you like on your own Facebook page, as long as it meets their rules. People who are vexed by what you post can jolly well hide or delete you.

Post the pic here! We will enjoy it.

I don't like mince pies but I love the look and smell of them.

warmwinterboots · 09/11/2015 22:02

Thanks, you lot. I knew you'd help me feel Christmassy again Wink. I'm staying off Facebook but eating mince pies by the handful and ENJOYING THEM Grin. Now I need to order my Christmas dinner...
