Present buying angst

I love buying things for Christmas especially for children but I find adults very difficult and a bit stressful really. Part of me wishes that we could just not do adult gifts but it simply won't happen (dd only child in immediate family) and I do like the whole exchange.

The main stress is keeping things 'equal' DP has a particular thing about this. He gets very embarrassed if he feels he has given less than received. So is likely to go 'overboard' to mitigate.

it just feels like a supposed happy time is really stressful and tense and that's before we have even touched where we will spend the day .

Any tips or maybe just a way to let go ...

How about an adults Secret Santa with a decent limit, say £30-50? You get to buy someone a really nice present but also save money and stress.

I agree with missmargot
