Hi,
I would like to get my dh an advent calendar this year but I Want something fun and different.
He is diabetic so no chocs or sweets either.

I can find loads for women candles, nail polish etc but not for men.

Anyone got any ideas please?

Tia

About once a week I put a 'nice' whiskey miniature, as that is his 'thing', and also small stuff. Found an aeriel topper for his car that will fit in the pocket. Otherwise fun size sweets which won't be suitable for you. Travel size luxury men's products maybe? I got some Elemis which I could use also.

Ah, sorry... what I mean is I have one of those refillable ones. A large (slightly naff!) Christmas tree with square pockets. Came from Home Bargains last year IIRC.

icklekid · 30/10/2015 20:36

Dh loved his star wars lego one last year...

Hi Sponge,
Yes I was thinking that is probably the way to go. Just seems a very expensive way of doing it?

I saw one in tk maxx this week which gives you a part of a radio every day, obviously building a complete radio by xmas eve. Think it may have been a Haynes one.

This is the one: www.trendsuk.co.uk/haynes-fm-advent-calendar

I did think of that ickle but then I don't think I could continue to refuse to buy them for our dc. (I only refuse as we have 6 dc so that would be a lot to spend on advent calendars)
Thank you though he would love it.

So you want to get you dh a advent calendar but not any of your children? Hmmm :-/

readyforno2 · 30/10/2015 20:45

I love the radio one! That's brilliant

Chocolatekeepsmesane · 30/10/2015 20:59

No not at all Tatty. The dc always have advent calendars.

What I meant was I refuse to buy the £25 ish Lego advent calendars for them. They always have the what I think of as normal chocolate ones.

I'm more than happy to by the dc advent calendars but not to spend £150 on them when the choc ones I can get for about £15

I get you. FWIW I resisted this sort of advent calendar for DD (her birthday is 1 week before Crimbo) but when she was on a school exchange the family she was with got her a lovely re-fillable one, as she was there at the beginning of Dec. Now I have to keep it going, thanks for that :)

AuditAngel · 30/10/2015 22:25

Some ideas depend on their hobbies. DH goes skiing each winter, so in his stocking he always gets a ski sun cream, a lip balm and a couple f packs of Compeed blister plasters. I also get DH about 3 or 4 pairs of nail clippers as we can never find them.

AuditAngel · 30/10/2015 22:26

What about some seeds? DH got chilli seeds last year which are now taking over our conservatory.

Or, for a gift too big for the pocket, an envelope it's a location or a hint on it?

LibidinousSwine · 31/10/2015 04:55

Wow, I love the look of that fm radio one- many thanks :)
