7-8yo boy, £30-£70 ?

Gift suggestions appreciated.
I'd prefer one rather nice gift rather than loads of small ones.
Youngest of 4 boys
He wants & I wanted to get him an Android phone so he could play Clash of Clans but DH has good reasons to object.

7yo is not so difficult to please, I'm the fussy one who wants to get a gift that is just right.

Already have in the house: 2 tonnes of Lego, posh marble run, dinosaurs, overflowing bookshelves, bikes, scooters, footballs, swords, several years of The Beano, 20 x hamma bead boards, unloved science kits, micro machines, 35 DSi games, a sea of cuddly toys, well-ignored crafts stuff...

How about a hudl? Slightly more than your budget but you might be able to use tesco vouchers to get it for half price. My 8yr old boy loves his!

the hudl is being discontinued but I read on the bargain thread that the kindle fire is on offer at Tesco.

A household like ours ought to have one, but really, What is the Raspberry Pi good for? I think DS is too young or just not quite geeky enough.

DH would have loved something like the R-Pi when he was about 10-11, though.

Would you consider getting him a pet? A guinea pig and cage would be about £50-70.

We have had electronic circuits but the boys didn't really go for it.
I don't think my kids are that kind of clever.

DS would love a regular maid service, honest. He loves to make his bed or tidy the house, or at least have the house tidy.

Well dd is yr2 and she uses the Scratch programme at school so I'm sure your ds could use it. If he is interested though! I think dh likes it the most in our house

Raspberry pi is not really worth it if you have a family computer that you don't mind him messing around on. You can do more on Scratch.

Get him a steam cleaner

What about one of the games which you buy the extra characters for? Skylanders or Disney Infinity? There's a lego one which looks great but it's about £100 I think (just for the game )
