Anyone making hampers to give as gifts this year? I'm looking for inspiration for one for grandparents who don't really have any interests or hobbies.

Yes we are. We have a very difficult family to buy for. It seems like a thoughtful way of gift giving.

Nice food, drink etc here. What about you?

So far I'm thinking biscuits, toffee or fudge, chocolates and that's as far as I've got Grin

Same - with wine and cheese too.

Also one person is bike mad so we're buying some bike cleaning fluid etc... I know, it sounds naff but believe it or not it'll be appreciated!

At least yours has a hobby so you can get things they'll use. I'm coming up with nothing and naice or homemade treats wouldn't be appreciated I don't think...I love christmas but hate this bit of it!

Would they appreciate a selection of those mini pots of jam and honey?

Alterego1965 · 18/10/2015 17:37

Yes. Good idea. And coffee. I do think that with stuff like that they can always regift it if it's not to their taste. With a hamper at least there's a selection of stuff. I can't get everything wrong can I? Grin

I was in "The Works" bargain book shop earlier this week, and among the stationery items were packs of empty hampers with shredded paper and ready to use packaging for making your own hampers as gifts. £4 for a reasonable size basket pack.

Contemplating doing one for my Dad. He's always terrible to buy for.

Oh that's good to know. Thank you.

I am doing 3 hampers this year (possibly 4 if I can't think of anything for my dm and step dad).

They're a bit of a mix bag really, things I think and hope they will like. So far I have:
Salted caramel popcorn
Pate, gift set of 4 different flavours and crackers
Mary Berry family planner, got on a whim in the reduced to clear section in Sainsburys.
Travel tea/coffee Mugs, again reduced to clear.
Small box of naice chocolates
Flavoured Vodka gift set
DVD
Bath/shower stuff
Small adult colouring book

I'm sure there's other stuff but I can't remember right now and I don't fancy getting up to look.

I did one for MIL Christmas before last, mine included: a calendar of the DC/her DGC (the ones that vista print/Photobox etc do) a tin of biscuits, a selection of Yankee candles, a bar of hotel chocolat chocolate, a pair of heat warmer socks, a cross stitch kit, a book, bubble bath/bath bomb, a scarf and a bottle of wine.

Pinterest will have loads of ideas if you search words like home made, Christmas, DIY, hamper
