Making Christmas pudding vodka-advice needed.

So I decided to make Christmas pudding vodka for the first time in years, but I am missing dried figs. Can I just chop up fresh ones and pop them in the bottle or will I poison myself? Do I peel them or leave the skins on?

Thanks.

I don't see why fresh would be a problem, I just don't know if it would keep as well? You could substitute for another dried fruit?

Thanks snausage. I decided to risk it. I won't be keeping the vodka for too long after it's finished blending, it's normally gone in a week. I can fish out the figs if they look weird.
