I love my house to smell like Christmas! I love spicy, cinnamon scents, particularly reed diffusers. My current favourite is the Wax Lyrical diffuser in 'iced cinnamon bun'... Any recommendations?

Diptyque come out with an amazing limited Christmas range. Very expensive, but lighting the candle for just 20 minutes made the entire house smell beautifully all day.

TheOnlyPink · 03/10/2015 10:12

Kringle do two of my favourites, gingerbread snow Angel, and Atkins cider doughnut. Both are very spicy, cinnamon, ginger smells. Adore them. Only ever find them in wax tarts or votives. Prefer the wax tarts, they last ages and you can break off pieces if you want a more subtle smell.

This year's yankee are nice. I hated last year's selection. Love sparkling cinnamon from them. Have it burning atm. They have a new one called gingerbread maple that I've been looking out for.

ScarlettDarling · 03/10/2015 12:49

Thanks for the suggestions. I've only ever had 2 Diptique candles before as they are v expensive. May put one on my own Christmas list though!

Never heard of Kringle before, Am going to have a Google.

Ooh, Christmas Candles Xmas Smile

I love Yankee (and boo to the YankeeHaters)

Love Sparkling Cinnamon (much nicer than Cinnamon Stick)
I have an order due in November from QVC (which includes Sparkling Cinnamon and Cosy By The Fire)

Real life Christmas smells?
Has to be Christmas cake while it's in production
Mince pies with buttery shortcrust pastry
(I'll smell them but I can't eat them. )

I don't like pine, I can cope with a tree but not synthetic

Millie2013 · 03/10/2015 14:15

I made a Christmas cake the other day (dummy run, as it was the first ever one is made) and the whole house smelt amazing

milkmilklemonade12 · 03/10/2015 18:09

70 I so want to like Yankee Candle! I just find them a bit...sickly? If you can recommend a nice one though, I'm going to the garden centre next week so I might partake Wink

I love Winter by the White Company. Expensive, but it just spreads its scent about so nicely I can never resist Smile

YY to mince pies, but only if my Mum is making them. Tinsel that's all warm from a radiator. That has it's own, lovely Christmassy smell.

dogwalker75 · 03/10/2015 18:15

Oooh place marking as I LOVE Christmas and candles so Christmas candles are my favourite things everXmas Grin

I do find some Yankee candles too sickly - like Christmas Cookie for example (never smelt it burning though, so it may be different?).

milkmilklemonade12 · 03/10/2015 18:18

Yes is it better when it's burning? I confess I have only smelt them in their jars.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 03/10/2015 18:20

I don't like the spicy Christmassy ones, much prefer the snowy (wtf does snow smell like) and clean ones-recommendations? (Diptique taste-air wick budget)

NotTodaySatan · 03/10/2015 18:29

I've tried all the Yankee Christmas candles and 99% of them smell synthetic and horribly sweet. Biggest disappointment was Christmas Eve which smelled like Skittles sweets Confused. In my opinion Yankee don't know how to blend fragrances. They just have one overpowering note, no subtlety.

I have White Company Winter and although at first when I unboxed it I thought it was a bit underwhelming, it has filled my entire downstairs with the clove-y cinammon-y smell of mince pies.

Still in the market for another Xmas candle though so will watch with interest.

JasperDamerel · 03/10/2015 19:39

I love White Company Winter. You can buy the fragrance oil for £6 which is very good value.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/10/2015 20:09

Some of the Yankee Candles do smell like vomitty socks in the jar but completely lovely burning.

Christmas Cookie is one of these .

I love Salted Caramel (I'll try and track this down this year)

My All Time Favourite was Creme Brulee and I'm trying to find a dupe.

NotTodaySatan · 03/10/2015 20:17

70's - I have a large Salted Caramel that has been burned once. It's yours if you want it. PM me.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/10/2015 20:40

What a lovely thread. I didn't know you could get Christmas smelling candles. I want some. Mulled wine, Christmas cake and cinnamon please. Grin

Thebirdsneedseeds · 03/10/2015 20:47

Oh I love the smell of Christmas and my stair garland, so pretty, so twinkly, makes me so happy! It doesn't smell, it's just lovely and I had to tell you all. I love the cinnamon/clove ones. I'm waiting til November before buying.

supadupapupascupa · 03/10/2015 20:50

i fell in love with a pine yankee last year. found it this year and bought 3 as it was limitied edition. I adore it. lovely an christmassy

ScarlettDarling · 03/10/2015 21:19

Ooh, just remembered, last year I bought a bag of pine cones from Dobbies garden centre which were all cinnamon and spicy smelling. They were a little over powering at first so I stuck them in the garage! But after a week or so they had really calmed down and smelled gorgeous. I put them in a big bowl in my hallway and was greeted with a waft of Christmas whenever I opened the door.

Mandarin, Clove and Cinnamon candle from m&s. My mum always had it when I was a kid and it smells exactly the same

annatha · 04/10/2015 00:11

I love Christmas candles. In had a gorgeous gingerbread one from he Country Candle Company last year.

I also love the smell of tinsel, turkey cooking, crackers being pulled, Christmas pudding...

annatha · 04/10/2015 00:12

Oh and those strings of dried oranges and cinnamon sticks. I think they have a proper name?

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/10/2015 00:15

I love White Company Winter too!

LilQueenie · 04/10/2015 00:27

Ive only ever had one imperial candle but would love a christmassy one. I love yankee and now I try to think of the scents they have gone out my head! I dont like pine either but there is a green yankee one at the minute and its actually really good. Merry berry is ok and I like kitchen spice. Anything that smells like christmas food is good with me.

Im trialling the smaller ones in order to know which scents to purchase in the bigger size for nov/dec.

Sadly Kringle is no longer operating. I got all excited at the prospect of it when I spied it further up in the posts but after a quick google... Sad

CarlaJones · 04/10/2015 00:41

Ikea gingerbread house kits fill the room with a lovely gingerbread smell.
Yankee Christmas Garland (Christmas tree smell.)
Yankee Christmas Eve. Didn't like it cold, but when burned it has a nice gingerbread smell.

CarlaJones · 04/10/2015 00:43

Also, Sainsburys do nice red Christmas spice candles. Not sure of the name of the scent.

annatha · 06/10/2015 12:22

I sniffed the Yankee Xmas range yesterday and wasn't blown away by anything, but that was perhaps because there were so many red ones with spicy scents that they all sort of mingled together. I did get wax tarts in the two Halloween scents though- Witches Brew is lovely and spicy without being sweet and sickly and Candy Corn smells like a pumpkin spice latte to me.
