Just been up in the loft to get mine.

OP posts:
TinsellyRhino · 30/11/2006 17:56

Yay I've already got mine out, wow, amazing how chuffed I feel that I managed to do something before you reminded us all.
Last year it was the 6th before I remembered

danceswithmonkeys · 30/11/2006 17:58

I'm sending dh into the loft when he gets home!(not that I'm too much of a girl to go into the loft I hasten to add but he has Mr Tickle-esque arms that allow him to reach things more easily through our tiny hatch)

hulababy · 30/11/2006 18:00

DD's are out ready. She has two this year: a Playmobil one and a pink Barbie chocolate one. Oh and she has an Advent candle too.

I think we have a felt one in the loft - oh well, neever mind now.

iota · 30/11/2006 18:02

I hung mine up today - after stuffing the pockets with sweets

the dses are fascinated by it as usual

TinsellyRhino · 30/11/2006 18:06

when I was young I had no chocolate in mine just pictures, all my friends had chocolate

I buy choccie ones now but I have just looked at them and 'oh my god', I thought it was silly that they had a choccie for xmas day cause you don't need one when they have pressies on xmas day but now the ones I have even have a choccie a day all the way to new year

hulababy · 30/11/2006 18:08

My dad said he'd seen some going right to New year. After Christmas Eve do you reckon the rest will even be remembered or not?

TinsellyRhino · 30/11/2006 18:09

Hmm, thats a goos point, maybe I won't tell them and then I could eat them, hmm that won't work now that dd1 can read

mytwopenceworth · 30/11/2006 18:10

i cant. i bought one of those with the little chocs inside.

guess what?

yup. i did.

DimpledThighs · 30/11/2006 18:12

LOL danceswithmonkeys!!

Two years ago my daughter (then 2) got her advent calendar down to look at on the 30th Nov - well you can probably guess teh rest. She ate it all, I found her covered in choc, she cried and now if I tell the story in her presence I have to pretend it was me when I was a little girl as she is too shy!

TinsellyRhino · 30/11/2006 18:13

you ate them?????? I AM SHOCKED

what are you going to do now?

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 30/11/2006 18:14

Mine has Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp on it. At least at yummy as the chocolate...

mytwopenceworth · 30/11/2006 18:14

have to go get one after they go to school i guess. then hope its still intact at 330pm!!!!!

TinsellyRhino · 30/11/2006 18:16

why don't you buy yourself one too then you can eat that one and not feel guilty

DimpledThighs · 30/11/2006 18:19

well mytwopenceworth they may be discounted tomorow and that might salve your concious - if you have one (eating an advent calendar - tut tut!)

LIZS · 30/11/2006 18:21

bum , playmobil assembly line here !!

carnation · 30/11/2006 18:44

I am such a cruel mum that I will not let mine have chocolate advent calanders. I try and explain to them that christmas is a time of good will and as they already get alot of treats on christmas day they should save themselves for then. Chocolate is used on nearly every special occasion and I feel that the pictures and the build up should be enough.
I bought my advent calanders for half price last year from oxfam. I say ban chocolate advent calanders and go back to the traditional ones. Even the ones that were recycled to the point the doors would not close properly!!!!

mytwopenceworth · 30/11/2006 21:54

i have NO conscience, DimpledThighs. last year my mum gave them a selection box each as well as their pressie. i shoved them under the sofa and pulled them out and scoffed them after they'd gone to bed.

im a horrible mother.

Posey · 30/11/2006 21:59

Just assembled our Playmobil one. Still going strong on its 5th year.

BudaBeast · 30/11/2006 22:03

I've completely forgotten to get anything.

hulababy · 01/12/2006 08:29

Do people really reuse the Playmobil ones? This is first time we hve bought one. Can't imagine DD letting me hide it all away again. She is planning on keeping all the bits to play with later!

bythesouthsea · 01/12/2006 09:01

Just caught this thread - aarrgghhhhhhh!! Have completely forgotten - one is a soft nativity scene so no probs but the other one (for DD2) is for putting 'treats' in - I am such a muppet! Here I go running around like a looney at lunchtime again............... BTW thanks for the reminder

PeachysAreNotAChristmasFruit · 01/12/2006 10:04

We have an advent candle which will lit in the kitchen (away from table LOL- d'ya think I am suicidal??) during dinner each night. Very trad dahlinks.

Only coz DH and I are bloody sueless and forget the chocolate types so they get none most days and seven on others
