When step MIL phones to see what the DS would like for Christmas.
It drives me batty, she leaves it till now, although it's uusally much later, and when i give her a list of suggestions, she ignores them completely.
Last year i pointed out that they were desperate for PJ's and told her what size to get, she got them tracksuits in completely the wrong size.
Becuase it makes them look good, they can say to all their friends "oh we bought the GS adidas tracksuits which were very expensive". Then on Christmas day she will phone up and drop subtle hints about what my mum and MIL have bought for the DS. Grr i'm annoyed already.

Why dont u say that theyve
got everything they need and it would be nice to just have the money which youll put in their savings account for when theyre older/need something - i told my "MIL" that last year 90% of the presents i got went back to the shops because id either already got it/didnt need it - and then i said to her - you know that nightie u bought me? (that she knew was too big cos i told her last yr) well the vouchers that i exchanged it for - i still havent spent them as i cant find anything i want - she looked shocked - but hopefully it will do the trick!
