I'm very excited to have my very first passport winging it's way to me and planning to do a short trip to France to ease myself into this travelling lark!

Are any of the European Christmas markets worth going to? Any that are a real no no?

Thank you :)

Sarah

I'd vote for he markets in Germany over France any day, much nicer atmosphere. I loved the ones in Hamburg.

I go to a market every year, German have been my favourite markets however I went to Copenhagen last year and that wins best christmas mini break for me!!

Tivolli Gardens was truly magical, and I will be going back again very soon, not as many markets so to speak but there were a couple and it was a really festive getaway!

ickle can you expand a little more please was it easy to get into city from air port, what made it better than the german markets? Tivoli Gardens, whats that is it a market?

autumnintheair · 17/09/2015 23:30

was it cold/snowing?

Op you could also consider Bruges, I have heard the market is not amazing like some german ones however the town itself is amazing, not far away and i image is even better with the market, even if the market itself is not an out and out winner

We did Copenhagen in early December a couple of years ago , Tivoli was lovely , the transport system is brilliant ( trains) and it was freezing cold and snowing .

Was very very cold and snowed one day!! Tivolli was like a winter wonderland, little shops in huts, stands with roasted bits, mulled win and hot chocolate and very old fashioned fairground rides. The sweetie ships were well worth the trip and the lights made it such a magical day/evening.

We got the bus from the airport and was very easy to navigate, the public transport was very user friendly!! I will try and dig out some photos
