xmasmummy · 27/11/2006 15:02

i agree on the phone front, my son asked for a mobile last xmas (he was 6) and i asked what he wanted it for. the response was "well to text my friends of course mum". to this i replied "dont be so bloody silly, you cant spell well enough to text and none of your mates have mobiles anyway". my kids do have tv's in their rooms but not mobiles i said he can have one when he starts senior school. no idea im afraid though my girls are only babies

xmasmummy my ds is like that too concerning movbile phones

you can get a two way text thingy for 10-15 quid
similar to walkie talkies

Tinker · 27/11/2006 15:04

She got a cheapo digi camera last year that she's not shown a great deal of interest in since the battery went (don't know where charger is ) so will leave one of those until she's a little past throwing her stuff around

Our 9 year old wants a hotwater bottle!!!! The best present we've bought her recently was a tent from Millets - very girly pink and she loves it. She's played with it both indoors and out and it's easy enough for her to put up herself. They also do cute lanterns, whistles etc to go with it.

I'm still holding out against MP3s, TVs etc but a CD player was a huge hit last Christmas and is used most days for listening to music or stories.

A big box of arty crafty things? A course of painting classes, ballet classes, pottery classes, pony riding etc etc insert interest here!?

Board games?

Bratz do a clever walkie talkie which you can text upto 2 miles with. Great idea as I agree they dont need phones yet.

Kidstrak · 27/11/2006 21:56

second mp3 player my litlle sister age 9 got one for her birthday in sept, it only holds about 68 songs and cost about £15 from Argos perfect for that age though as they don't need that many songs

9yo (will be 10yo 9 days before XMas) DD's wish list - in this order. Her punctuation with my comments in [ ]

Horse organiser
Half-chaps
Horse top
Hawkins Bazaar [she loves the pocket money toys in this shop]
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town on GBA?
Animal Crossing on GBA?
GBA and Gamecube link cable
[The above three are all to do with her having a GBA and friend having Gamecube and it ain't happening!]
My Pony Stable PC game [anyone see a theme?!]
Musical items e.g. triangle, children's drum kit, recording machine
Digital Camera?
Art set
Plot in the garden [i.e. a piece of land to plant veggies etc] or a secret den
Clothes
Please, please, please!!!

Posey · 27/11/2006 22:05

This is dd's list of ideas too.

Heelys
Cd player
Sims pet thingy
fleecy throw/cushions for her bed
a mirror
dressing gown (v.soft one from M&S)
Guiness book of records
lemony Snicket The End

She may or may not get them.

We have also got her
Simpsons Uno
Cat's cradle book
Large folder for artwork
Brownie Annual
Diary
Jazzy tights

Tinker · 28/11/2006 12:37

Oh thank you for all these ideas.

lol at "horse organiser" SueW. She has asked for Animal Crossing, only thing she can think of apart from footless tights and ballet pumps

She has all the board games in the world and an mp3 player already (she sounds quite spoilt doesn't she? Think I used to buy to compensate for her not seeing her dad much and when he does see her he buys her Big Presenst to compensate for not seeing her!)

Will print off and study

Cute lockets. She's into a red and black theme atm (?), obsessed with red shoes.
