ELC Fairy Wonderland toy

Has anyone seen ELC's Fairy Wonderland toy in RL and, if so, does it look like a real treasure of a toy (for a 4 year old girl who loves fairies and knick-knacks) or is it a bit tacky? I've seen it on-line and it looks like the kind of thing DD1 might like but with all the bits its £60 and I don't think I'm going to be able to get to an ELC to see it and so I thought I'd ask on here whether anyone had either seen it or had one.

Many thanks in advance!

I pass an elc in my lunch hour so will pop in and see if I can view it....I've thought about it too for my dd. I've seen the packs of fairies etc and they look good. Will get back to you unless someone gets here before me!

Nemoinapeartree · 22/11/2006 10:35

I saw one a few weeks ago and it looked ok although think some kids who had been in store had given it a good bashing so looked slightly worn and had no bits with it...

Snowstorm · 22/11/2006 10:44

Many thanks for your replies.

Saythatagain, I'd love to know what you think when you see it - how old's your DD? £60 is enough money for me to be in quite a dither about it as if DD1 loved it then it'd be worth every penny but as it'd be her only present from us then it would be a very expensive flop should she find it dull! Tricky buying presents isn't it?!!

as an alternative what about a dolls house?

we've ordered this for dd

Snowstorm · 22/11/2006 10:52

We've got a couple of cheapy dolls houses so we're all done on that front thanks. That's a pretty impressive one you've got there - I imagine your DD's going to be incredibly excited about that!

I know and it's so cheap too compared to most especially because it includes the furniture it was a good find.

heifer · 22/11/2006 11:07

hi ledo - what is the quality like - I saw it online but haven't been near a toysrus...

ledodgychristmasjumper · 22/11/2006 11:08

I don't know lol I only ordered it a day ago! Will let you know.

Snowstorm · 22/11/2006 11:08

That's a real bargain if it includes the furniture as most don't do they and that all adds up a lot - I'd feel very smug about that present if I were you !

MIL bougt the fairy wonderland for DD for Xmas but has now swapped it for the Dora castle. I thought it was very fussy and felt the same as Pamina the figures on their own would provide the most entertainment!

Enid · 22/11/2006 11:50

agree with pamina

KTeepee · 22/11/2006 11:51

i have seen it and think it looks nice but is expensive considering you don't get any figures with it. Would think a castle ot dolls house might be better overall

saythatagain · 22/11/2006 12:14

Well, I took a look and for what it's worth, I think it's overpriced. If the 4 packs of figures @ £10 a throw were included then it is better value. It does look lovely and if money were no object I would by it......

SlightlyMadScientist · 22/11/2006 12:50

If you do decide to buy it enter the discount code 'STAR' for a 20% discount (on all ELC toys)

SlightlyMadScientist · 22/11/2006 12:54

Ledogy - MIL brought DTDs it last year for X-mas (was 3 storys then). It is fab value for money - most places we looked you would pay more than that for an unfurnished house!!!

Beware - ours came without any assembly instructions (probably a mistake) - X-Mas day was a nightmare trying to assemble it without them (but we managed).

DTDs love stripping hte furniture out & mopping all of the floors with the toilet brush come mop!!!

Thanks very much for all the comments on the Fairy Wonderland. I think you are all probably confirming my main concerns.

I shall have to start again thinking about presents for DD1 ... I'm quite tempted by that tap dancing Mumbles penguin in Woolworths ... but I need to decided who I would really be buying that for
