Does anyone know whether the wooden Thomas trains that go on a wooden track are compatible with the cheap wooden brio type tracks you can get from the supermarket?

Do you mean the Learning Curve ones from ELC and the old Brio trains - yes they are compatible. Tesco has good track and accessories.

just adding another yes, we've got the mothercare track, and my Dad has the one from Argos at his house, the Thomas trains fit both.

Oh and just incase anyone is buying Thomas trains, Mothercare are doing a buy one get one half price.

HTH!

Thanks foxtrot! We have lots of the Tesco stuff but I know that a Diesel 10 would delight him. Still it's hard to pay £12 instead of 85p for an engine. I guess this is the shape of things to come!

My little boy (now 4.5) got into Thomas about 2 years ago and we started collecting the trains for birthdays, xmas and treats. He is still into Thomas and the track and all the trains will be reused by his baby brother. He spends ages setting it all up and playing and takes a train with him when we go out. I would rather spend money on a toy which he can build upon than cheap crap that only gets played with once or twice and then is boring.
