On the way home from work (Kent), I saw a house lit up with its Christmas lights.

Can you believe that? Today is 14th November 2006 for goodness sake!

ComeOVeneer · 14/11/2006 20:57

LemonTart · 14/11/2006 20:57

2 years ago our local garden centre put up their Christmas decoration display just before our summer holiday (right at the end of the summer term first week in Sept). I was so irritated I complained to the store manager who must have thought I was a total lunatic to be so wound up by it

nikkie · 14/11/2006 22:39

A hous enear us did it last week

threelittlebangers · 14/11/2006 22:43

House down the road did it a week ago, I was . I wondered why they were taking their massive st george's cross flag down!

anniebear · 15/11/2006 07:08

Think the shops are ok to do in Nov as it is a display isn't it to make it look christmassy as some people have started christmas shopping

Think our own houses should wait till Dec!! (the 1st!!!! lol)

eidsvold · 15/11/2006 07:31

have only come across one that is already decorated but it has been decorated for a couple of weeks.

Have not ventured down the more usual culprit streets lately.

ludaloo · 15/11/2006 07:34

I am waiting for the house opposite to put theirs up...this time last year they had them up....It is like having blackpool on your doorstep!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 15/11/2006 07:35

the guy opposite was out putting all his up on monday.... i dont think they are "on" of an evening yet but they are up!

PollyLogos · 15/11/2006 07:37

Today I saw a flat near us where they have put a HUGE inflatable santa hanging over the balcony railings!

Way to early in my opinion, also to put santa I would imagine that there are children living there. How many times are they going to be saying "when is santa coming""how many days 'til he comes?" etc etc

To make matters even worse this is Greece and santa comes here on New Years Eve!!! (except at my house)

MrsMills · 15/11/2006 07:50

Thankfully only some of the shops here just started displaying Christmas affects. Mind there's still a 40 ft ghost hanging up on the main shopping way.

throckenholt · 15/11/2006 08:31

I think it should be limited to the week before Christmas - say the 21st Dec !

My twins know there birthday is a bit after Christmas and are getting really confused - keep asking if it is there birthday soon and it is months away - how do you explain that to nearly-4-year olds ?

It is one of my pet hates - it takes out half the fun of Christmas when the build up lasts 4 months

I saw a couple on the way home from work last Thursday - the 8th

They should be banned until the 2oth December - just think of the electricty saved....

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 15/11/2006 08:56

Actually the 9th - still too bloody early!

sandcastles · 15/11/2006 09:10

Here they have a Chrismas Pageant the first weekend in November & it's quite common to go home & put up all your Christmas Decorations.....inside & out!

Tortington · 15/11/2006 09:19

i was sure in answer to thread title you were going to say

santa.

i dont know anyone who has seem the real santa

sockmonkey · 15/11/2006 09:20

One house near us had it's decs up in october... there are now 2 houses decorated on our walk to school.

Crazyness! I love to decorate, but at least wait till mid december

nogoes · 15/11/2006 09:24

There was a thread last week and quite a lot of people admitted to putting them up in November. I usually wait until about a week before Christmas.

Iklboo · 15/11/2006 09:26

2 round ours have got them up -tree, lights, garden - the lot

saltire · 15/11/2006 13:12

I can beat that. We were driving to a wedding the weekend of 7th October, and we drove through a town in Dumfriesshire which not only had all the lights up along the main street, they were all on!
