OK!

I'm distressed reading about those of you who are worried sick about Christmas and having no money to buy things for your children!

Rather than sit of my ample backside and do nothing I have the following proposal to make.

Those of you who have old toys/gifts which are in good condition, or who are willing to buy a new gift for a child can register your contributions with me.

Those of you who are down on your uppers can send me your details - name, address, age and gender of children, what kind of things they like!

Those lovely MN who will send me Christmassy things will be matched up with those people who would like a bit of a hand with Christmas.

Those giving pressies will wrap the pressie and label it 'To XXX from Santa', and then send it to the address given to them.

If people receiving presents want to remain anonymous then I can ask people to send their contributions to me, and I will forward them onto the gift receiver, I will bear the postage cost of the onwards posting!

If people want to help, but have no toys etc to do so, then a small amount on a gift voucher for woolies, argos or the like can be sent instead!

Please post on this thread whether you think it is a winger - if we get at least 10 givers and 10 receivers then I will go ahead with it, and will post my email address to start the ball rolling!

Receivors must be regular MNetters, in case we are deluged from other sites

So it is over to you guys - good idea or not???

wow thanks nicola at GE! The kindness from everyone is so overwhelming...i get jaw ache reading this thread because im clenching trying not to cry ....if only you all knew how wonderful you've made me feel.....i love christmas so much, and this year i was letting the money matters get to me.....
christmas really is about good will to all....all here at MN has proven that.

Being a young single parent with 1 ds isnt easy, but its rewarding......i dont ever spend what i dont have and always give the best to my ds whenever i can.....having had ds when i was a 18 wasnt ideal but i never once doubted my abilities to be a good mum. ds is now 2.8 and is my absolute world, your support and help towards my son is priceless...i am eternally grateful and hope that one day i can do something to return the favour.
sniff

Fantastic news about Great expectations you are wonderful Nicola - thank you very much

I have Nicola to send a selection of smaller toys as I am afraid I couldn't see how a treehouse or dolls house could really be allocated fairly

Thanks so much for all the offers of help and nominations that are still flooding in

soapbox · 23/11/2006 14:06

LOL -

I am sure that I will get my thank you in Heaven

But actually, I have a lovely life and it was spreading a little of that happiness around that was the starting point to all of this. So please, any thank you's would be much better directed at those families who need a little help this year.

Nothing and I mean nothing will be a bigger thank you than thinking of a mum being able to put christmas dinner on the table, and hang a few decorations up, and hang a full to the brim stocking on the mantlepiece this Christmas

And it is all down to you - all of you

As I said before - I'm just a list maker - a pretty good one too, if I'm allowed a moment of immodesty to creep in

Puddytats - is a real star you know- as many of you will discover on Christmas day

OP posts:
puddytats · 23/11/2006 14:49

I think not, it is this site that is the star, and people like soapbox who give up so much of their own time for others.
I am just glad that i can give a little back.

FrivolentDemon · 23/11/2006 15:23

Thanks for my email.I'll post the stuff out by Saturday at the very latest.

I feel priviledged to be able to help,my dd's get so much stuff from their relations,it feels good to be able to spread it around more equally.

gigglewiggle · 23/11/2006 18:50
