Duplo compatibility?

Does anyone know if Lego Duplo is compatible with Mega Bloks? Are they pretty much the same? Mega Bloks seem much cheaper, and we just want the ordinary bricks rather than a themed set. Thanks!

mega bloks are cheaper but not good quality

but they do join together
