Quootiepie · 06/11/2006 17:16

White Christmas is one I quite like.

framan · 06/11/2006 18:07

Sorry but I like Slade's Christmas Song. That really gets me in the mood for Christmas.

MarsLady · 06/11/2006 18:27

Just give me a bit of Nat King Cole and Christmas is sorted! lol

I love Little Drummer Boy and I liked Bing Crosby and David Bowie's version.

I also like Stop the Calvary!

And I love the last verse of the hymn that says

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb.
If I were a wise man, I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him?
Give my heart!

Love that

Zippetydoodahzippetyday · 06/11/2006 21:31

And the carol concerts at school awwww, they really put you in the mood for Xmas even the little tiny Reception children singing their little hearts out.

Marslady, it's In the Bleak Midwinter, love that! You don't hear it very often any more, unless you are in my house and you hear it sung badly!

I love Greg Lake I Believe in Father Christmas.

gladbag · 06/11/2006 22:01

I love Greg Lake's 'I believe in Father Christmas', with the great Prokofiev bit at the end, always makes me a bit wistful and teary.........which is daft really, as I think it's an rant against the commercialisation of Christmas and I'm an atheist anyway, but there you go

Zippetydoodahzippetyday · 06/11/2006 22:16

I love that one too Gladbag....its a magical kind of song.....like "we're flying through the air" makes me feel all warm inside.

I enjoy the run up to Xmas much more than Xmas itself.

HenniPenni · 06/11/2006 22:46

All of them, but will admit to liking the orchestal ones too.

Linnet · 06/11/2006 22:52

I have to many favourites to list but one of my all time favourites is one that bing Crosby sings called The snowman. I've got it on a cd that I got from a restaurant I used to work in, they bought new christmas cd's and were going to throw all the old ones out so I nabbed the Bing Crosby one, but I asked first didn't steal it.

Only problem is the cd has a tiny scratch in it so sometimes sticks and I can't get another copy of the cd as it's out of print so it's only played occasionally so as not to wear it out more, lol It's a good CD has loads of good songs on it.
