I'm not doing it this year!I have xmas at mine very year, maybe twice at my parents since ds was born and he is 12.My parents have now moved and it involves a ferry to get to them and as my mum hates xmas it is a relief to dp and me tbh that we don't have to go!!!!BUT my sister who is single always comes to us and just assumes she will this year She doesn't get on with my mum and so won't go there.I really fancy just the 3 of us this year but I feel mean My sister has never offered adn always says we could come to her but she has no table!!

could you soften the blow by inviting her over boxing day, or chistmas day evening if you have room for her to dtop the night, so you cAN HAVE A FEW DRINKS IN THE EVENING/

I think she just would like to have the day with us like every year Last year I suggested all getting together to exchange presents xmas eve but she was a bit sulky

How about exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve with hot chocolate and cookies, or whatever, then suggesting a meet-up at a restaurant for brunch/lunch whatever the next day? She can sulk if she wants to, but she has to understand that it is a huge thing hosting Christmas every year and you need a break!

I think I will My sister doesn't really keep much contact with my parents amd my mum moans about xmas every year and then grudgingly comes and we just don't want that nonsense this year Dp never complains about my family just expecting to come but I know this year he really doesn't want it
