Its my nephew's 11th birthday coming up next week & I am completely stuck for ideas & so is his mum!

Hoping for some inspiration - what is your 11 year old into/ what was a big hit this christmas?

Anything Minecraft related, Lego (especially Technic as this is a bit more complicated and involved, therefore more of a challenge) and books. He also had his 12th birthday just before Christmas, and had a driving lesson...round here they do lessons for under 17s on a carpark so it's off-road, but not sure if this is available in other areas. He really loved it, but would also have liked other "experiences" like GoApe, etc.

Hi thanks for your reply. He got minecraft stuff for christmas so thats out, but technic lego worth a look. Book might be a good idea too - any recommendations for that age group?

Lego technic is a great idea, my 11 year old loves it. classic board games? A voucher for a skiing lesson if there's an indoor slope nearby, or one of those indoor sky diving places? Books-wise, depends what he likes, but mine got a few Alex Rider books and loves anything by Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson etc). If you lookin Amazon, there are often forums where people recommend books for different ages, I always find that useful when looking for new book ideas.

Vouchers went down well for ds12. Superdry , iTunes , sports direct, PlayStation and cinema vouchers were all a hit.
Also loved phone , laptop accessories and 'designer' underwear , smelly things.

Mine likes books like Ripley's Believe It or Not, or Guinness Book of Records. My older DS at the same age had the Young Sherlock Holmes books by Andrew Lane. The 11 year old also likes the David Walliams children's books. I also got a Minecraft t-shirt (from Primark I think) which he really liked.
