So, we went into town and bought a 'crispie house' kit, but it says Ice the base and there's no mention of a base apart from when the instructions say to ice it? What do I use for a base?

I have a chopping board :) will just anything do then? It's the first time I've attempted anything like this.

I use a placemat. But only because I've no spare chopping board!

Cake Board

I use a cake board and saw a hole out of the bottom with the breadknife, so I can stick a little battery tea light or similar there and turn it on.

Oooh meandmyspoon very flash! Smile

So glad we're talking gingerbread houses - I'm attempted my first one with the dc's tomorrow. Was going to use a cake board iced with fondant icing (only because it's in the cupboard anyway) and then all kind of 'snowed' up with the royal icing I'll be using for the glue.

(It is royal icing for the glue, isn't it? Stuff you make with egg whites?)

Actually meandmy, I am completely going to steal that idea!
