Do you wrap stocking presents?

We never had stockings growing up but the DC's have seen so much recently regarding stockings they have asked for stockings this year. Do you wrap the bits and bobs in the stocking? I thought no but DH thinks yes.

My DM never wrapped our stocking presents and I am not wrapping DD's.

Yeah I do. For kids, part of the fun of presents, is unwrapping them.

Always wrap ours, yes. I think it makes it more exciting, the kids can tip the gifts out and spend a bit of time squeezing and shaking them and wondering what they are. And opening presents is fun anyway

I do different paper for each child so it is easier to get the right things in the right stocking whilst crouched outside the bedroom door in the dark. Father Christmas usually uses coloured tissue paper in our house, so they are different to all the presents under the tree.

I don't put that many things in the stocking though - maybe 6 or 7 - so it doesn't take that long to wrap them.

Definitely, it prolongs the excitement. Although I have different wrapping paper for the stockings than any other presents ('mummy, why do you and Santa use the same wrapping paper??')

Yes wrap them, takes longer for them to open them and means longer in bed :-)

Though the satsuma and nut we always get are never wrapped!

I agree the unwrapping is one of the best bits but they will still have their normal presents to unwrap. I've got them a toothbrush, bubble bath, sweets, chocolate coins and a plastic dinosaur for their stocking. I dont really know what you get in a stocking, none of the presents they have asked for would actually fit in a stocking!

we only have "stocking presents" (actually a pillowcase in our house). There are no other presents , so they are all wrapped.

When I was a child, my stocking presents were unwrapped, but I wrap most of them in colour coded tissue paper. Magazines and foodstuffs stay unwrapped.

I do, because I quite like wrapping things and dc enjoy unwrapping! There's obviously no need to wrap I imagine it might be about 50-50?

Yes, wrap up the stocking presents, spend an afternoon or evening with a glass of wine and mince pies.

Seal every join and fold in the paper very firmly with selotape, this will win you an extra half hour at least in bed early on Christmas morning!

Nope - but my teenage DC don't get up until lunchtime and then look in their stockings at a leisurely ( tired )pace!

Last year, we had to wake up 3yo DD at 8am. She likes her kip, even at Christmas.

Slightly off track but buy two stockings for each child in the same design. One is filled and hidden and the other is hung up. Much easier just to swap the two over than to try to fill them in the night.

Oh, and yes, I wrap stocking presents, it prolongs the excitement!

No. My parents didn't. It's not eco friendly. The stocking is the wrapping.
