Have three (female) teachers to buy a little something for and have no idea what to get. They seem inundated with chocolates and mugs, I know nothing about wine and don't know them well enough to get anything 'personal'. One is prob early 50s, one mid 40s and one late 30s at a guess - should that help. Am really stuck for ideas and have a budget of about £10 each (or less) which makes it difficult. Also have two TAs to do.

Children not very interested in making crafty stuff so not sure home made is an option either!

Any ideas as it's starting to worry me a bit now

They will get so much they won't notice if you buy anything or not!!

my friend who is a TA says chocs/wine go down v well, theres only so many momentos u can keep. im sure she said they swap bottles in staff room if not to their taste

alternatively how about some smellies? bath bombs from lush seem v popular.

I have just bought a few bits from cath kidston for teacher presents. A pen, some sticky notes, notelets etc. would something like that be any good?

I just bought a couple of lovely scarfs (scarves?) from primark for ds nursery teachers. £4 each and I thought they were really pretty.

I make a large box (one for each class) of mixed Christmas cookies to share in the staff room, that way I don't have to keep track of all TAs and Teachers. The kids decorate a big label for the lid and take them in at the start of the last week usually. We always get positive comments back. And then just cards fr the teachers that my kids want to give them to.

I pinched my DCs teacher presents ideas from MN, I got personalised teacher note books, they are perfect! They came from not on the highstreet, and cost £7 each having said that I imagine chocolates always go down well, well I would love them.

Notebook (I prefer spiral bound as I think they're more practical) and pen. Paperchase do nice patterned ones. As do WH Smith

Set of lots of different coloured ball pens

Gloves - leather, in a colour, if you can get these for a tenner

Pretty nail files and a nail varnish in a neutral colour or clear as that woudl suit everyone. Boots do pretty ones

Hand cream always goes down well. I like the h,mp one from the Body Shop

I have a few teacher friends and they all say wine is the way to go. So at the parents evening I asked my DS teacher what colour she'd prefer.

Just make sure that they drink before buying wine!

After last year's YR Christmas show, I said to the TA "bet you need a large G&T after that!". She replied "ooh, no, I don't drink - but I will be having a sneaky coca-cola now to get me through the clearing-up"... So I went home and drank the wine I'd bought to give her (bought chocolates instead).

Best present I ever got from a child was some Xmas pj bottoms.

I know you're not keen on a mug, but look at this Starbucks set with a candy cane spoon! Plus if you have clubcard points you'll save money.

Stationery always goes down well and can be used up. Those pens that are erasable and come in funky colours seem a favourite with many.

Thanks for all of your ideas. It seems that wine sounds like a safe option and if I'd taught my children every day since September I'd definitely need a bottle or three by now

Though one teacher did say yesterday that she had sore hands from washing everything down (bug is rife in school) so maybe some hand cream for her too!

I always go for a Christmas decoration...
