Thinking of getting a Raspberry Pi starter kit for DS age 11.
Don't really know what I'm buying though....
I know it is good for learning programming and I think he would enjoy it.
Any advice?

Go for it! DD (12) loves doing R-Pi things. She has a book of projects, which I think is useful - it can be a bit daunting at first, as it just looks like a circuit board. These two look like the ones she's enjoyed: www.amazon.co.uk/Adventures-Raspberry-Carrie-Anne-Philbin/dp/1118751256/ref=pd_cp_b_0
