Given all my ideas away for my 2y old!

Any suggestions for a two year old?

I'm stuck as to what to buy her....It's also her birthday on Boxing Day!

She will get plenty from other people and at this age we can still get away with not buying too much but I want to get her a few bits from us!

She has got some happy land stuff, the ikea kitchen and accessories and some bath toys coming.

Has anyone played with the Lucy dog?

Brio (or ikea!) wooden train track is a big hit in our house, also duplo/mega blocks.

My 2.5 year old loves his scooter (My First Scooter from Sainsbury's which goes from 4 wheels to 3, to 2). He is getting a home made shop for Xmas - a shelf in the kitchen with some play food, a basket and till. These are all in Lidl at the moment. Also some new bedtime story books, and some new bits for his train set (Lidl again!).

A micro scooter?

A play tent (we have a princess castle thing) - can go inside or outside.

A dolls house

The toy till and shopping basket got lots of play here, especially with all the play food from the kitchen.

Does she already have a doll and a pushchair?

Jigsaws, perhaps a few more complex ones you can bring out again later in the year.

A pop up tent, can be used indoors if you have the space but also fun for outside. If you can find them this time of year something the foam hopscotch mats are fun too and again ours get used both indoors and outdoors.

Peppa pig set, toy dyson, talking Sophia the first doll and toot garage will be under the tree for my daughter. She also plays with the little wooden Melissa and doug carry house which I got last year in the sales. I also got her the interactive doll baby love and it looks great. Hope that helps.

my 2.5 yr old loves her dolls and pram, dressing up (Tesco do 2-3 outfits), colouring (highly recommend twistables by crayola), thats not my... books, busy books, her handbag, cars, my little pony, Fisher price Disney princess castle and has been showing lots of interest in a hobby horse in the shops!

personally I would buy a selection of little bits and save some money for a summer/garden toy like a playhouses/coupe car or slide

Thanks for all the suggestions. She has a till/shopping basket already and a little pram but with a really simple doll - I might get her a more interactive one. The Hoover would be good too as she loves her mini dustpan and brush!

A hobby horse? Have bought one for my 2 year old niece and my 3 year old DD is trying to claim it...

DD is 2.3 and is getting a comprehensive dressing up cupboard. How about a few hats, scarves, clompy shoes etc?

Brioche I am in exactly the same position! I remembered skimming past your thread title and came looking...

I'm struggling very very much with DD4 who is 18 months. She has everything, she has 3 older sisters so she actually has everything. I have given away my sole good idea to my mother-in-law to stop her having a tantrum and now DD's god-mother has messaged asking for advice!

I'm almost in the position that I'm going to have to get rid of an old/slightly knackered doll's pushcjair just so that her god-mother can replace it! (FWIW we have another 3 doll pushchair/prams)

Any other ideas, anyone?!

My two are 3.6 and nearly 2, some things that have gone down well recently are:

I wouldn't recommend the mini micro scooter. The regular micro is much better, and at it's lowest setting is the same height as the mini. The regular one is far more sturdy, and will need to be replaced as the child grows, whereas the regular one does for years and years.

Lucy the dog is crap. She's very vague on responding to instructions, and ours definitely isn't able to comprehend a 2 year old's speech, and just barks randomly. TBH it's not much better at responding to 6 year old's speech.

Some things my DD got great use out of at that age are:

• Doll's high chair
• Doll's bath set
• Doll's cot
• Corolle baby dolls, particularly the one who goes in the bath
• Twistable crayons

It is not that I'm trying to be difficult but we already have everything mentioned! sometimes more than one

Duplo can always be added to, I suppose, but we have 2 big buckets and she isn't that into it, so won't be excited to see it when opened.

All she really plays with are books (2 cases full), dolls (knee deep in them) pushchairs (ditto) and tea sets (got the IKEA kitchen and box full of food/tea set things).

I need a present from me and DH, and one from her godmother...

I'm screwed aren't I...

If she's into doll and pushchairs, I think you could do well with baby-minding things. Our high chair got loads of use, as did the baby bath. DD also had a changing bag, toy car seat (doll would be strapped in next to her). You could also get outfits for her dolls.

To go with her tea-set, you could maybe get wooden birthday cake that can be sliced for serving at the tea party.

Only thing on that list that we haven't got is the highchair... DD3 age 3 is very keen but think it is more for her! Have got DD4 a doll's sling from her sister and some of those 'magic' pouring bottles.

Have found one of the ELC mini babies that we haven't got, have suggested a replacement pushchair as we'll be away from home when she receives it so she will show genuine delight at another one, a shapesorter/hammer toy which may be a bit young but should have novelty value, the birthday cake or another toy phone... Phew!

We got my DS the Toy Story dvd trilogy for Christmas last year (he was just over 2) and he still watches and asks for them now.

It was partly a present for me too as i was heavily pregnant and meant he could watch it while i rested and fed newborn.

We have the same issue with a birthday close to Christmas - DS is 2 in January. I'm being really careful to get some stuff he will grow into (to the extent that I've looked up what he's likely to learn to do over the next year. PFB? Me? Nah...)
