Does anyone know of a much cheaper alternative to this?

Seems an insane amount of money!

PS I am getting my son some fun Christmas gifts too. This just seemed like a practical one! Smile

We have something like this which does the job and looks ok in the living room.

RedKites · 01/12/2014 21:08

This from GLTC is a bit cheaper (and you might find a discount code on top) although it's not as big, looking at the measurements.

Fab tips thank you :)

There's one here and there's a mumsnet code I've used before that gives 10% off - MUMSNET

Blowninonabreeze · 02/12/2014 18:52

Do you want to be able to carry it around?
If not verbaudet do several book storage options similar to this one

User100 · 02/12/2014 19:19

Sadly I have no ideas but would also love one of these! £79 is just insane!!

I think the verbaudet one with a discount code is the cheapest I've found. Still £40 or so Hmm

Surely there must be a cheaper one?!

meringue33 · 02/12/2014 20:14

God bless MN
I agree, £40 is still loads!
Think Elvish has the right idea going for something generic and loads cheaper!

You can get some lovely book sling shelves that are slim fitting to the wall. Can't link on the tablet but Google 'book sling shelves'. They display books very nicely.

Elvish · 02/12/2014 21:34

Something like this do you mean Thatsn0t?

GoogleyEyes · 02/12/2014 21:38

We have this:
www.amazon.co.uk/Childrens-cardboard-bookcase-toddler-bookshelf/dp/B004A823M6

Five years in, two kids, still being happily browsed and used. I highly recommend it.

DearGirl · 02/12/2014 21:45

We use several of these around the house as toy boxes and book tidys IKEA

Mitchymatchy · 02/12/2014 23:25

I think the right size normal box or magazine rack will do the job near enough, as PP have said.

Another idea if you have the wall space is something like this: www.ikeahackers.net/2011/03/repurposing-spice-racks-into-childrens-bookshelves.html

thatsn0tmyname · 03/12/2014 15:57

Me again, apologies for the late reply. Yes, that's what I had in mind

Christmasbargainshopper · 03/12/2014 20:45

I have used ds's trunki as a book tidy with two compartments. The books sit up quite nicely in each side. It was going to be a temporary measure, but it looks quite smart.

I don't think the tidy box is expensive, comparatively speaking anyway. We bought our kinder boxes from school supply shops, but they're bigger and more expensive still, but very sturdy and well made.
