So, how old was your child when they first saw the ballet and did they enjoy it?

The Nutcracker going to be on in our town the weekend of my birthday and I can't decide if I should go with DH in the evening or take one or both the DDs (5 and 7) to see the matinee performance. They've both been to see full length plays (for children) before and know the story of The Nutcracker but not been to the ballet before. I lived in the middle of nowhere so didn't get to go to the ballet until I was a teenager so not sure when it the normal age to start taking children to the ballet.

DD went last year (she was 5.5) for the first time and loved it. She is going back this year just before Christmas.

Brilliant, thanks, a girls trip it is. Will leave DH to think of something grown up for us to do!

My eldest was 3.5. We sat in cheap seats, near the exit, the first time, and all was fine. Though some theatres, like ROH, have minimum age guidance of 5.
