London theatre trip suggestion?

I'm hoping to organise a trip to the theatre for DH for Christmas, probably in January or February. Can anyone recommend anything they've seen or heard about? He'd prefer a play rather than a musical I should think.

Thanks!

Book of Mormon was fabulous, although you would have to have the right sense of humour!

Poofus · 24/11/2014 11:02

I'm not sure he would find it funny, actually, although I have heard a lot of positive reviews. Thanks though!

Dh saw the Book of Mormon and said it was rubbish.

I've been to the Book of Mormon 4 times now, with different people each time and they all totally loved it.

It's the best thing in the west end at the moment by miles...

What about The Audience if you think he'd prefer a play?

Poofus · 24/11/2014 11:24

The Book of Mormon is definitely off the list, I think. I will check out The Audience - thanks!

Ohhhh, it's not on again until April - that's a bit too late, sadly.

What's the new indoor theatre at the Globe like? Has anyone been?

Or War Horse?

Or I know it's been on a long time but maybe The Mousetrap?

You should check out Get into London Theatre which is a site that offers discounted tickets for Jan/Feb each year, I've booked with them for the past few years and have got some really good deals on some of the top shows, hope you enjoy whatever you go for!

Poofus · 24/11/2014 23:45

Thanks - that website looks really helpful :)

Really enjoyed the Mousetrap recently

If you're looking for a play we all loved Shakespeare in Love, feel good, clever and funny.
Warhorse and Curious Incident also reliably good.
DD2 says avoid Charles III!
