Balance bike recommendations

Hiya looking for recommendations re balance bikes. I'm thinking of getting one for my DD who is 2 but not sure about metal or wooden anyone able to advise? Thanks

Is she a big 2 or a tiny 2?

My DS2 had a Puky LRM which is the smallest lightest balance bike we could find. There is a slightly bigger one as well which is a better idea if she is a tall 2 year old.

I agree with the Puky. My DD had one for her 2nd birthday and still whizzes around on it now she's nearly 4 and she has a big bike with stabilisers now. The handle and seat adjust as they grow and it is so well built with good tyres for a smooth ride. It has given her so much riding confidence.

iheart my DD isn't a big 2 was looking for a small one ill check the Puky one thank you. My DD manages to climb onto her big sisters bike so I'm sure she'd love a balance bike :)

Hi Flynn. We had an Islabike Rothan for ds1, which was fab, but they have doubled in price since we bought that (7 years ago) and are now £130!! So, when we needed another, we got an similar looking one off Amazon. I've just looked and this one looks very similar to what we got, although isn't exactly the same. The main thing with the non Islabike (ours is an Ander is that it is much lighter, doesn't have a brake and the tyres are solid.

Our Rothan was from before they fitted them with brakes - so this is not a problem as they but their feet down to stop. The lighter bike is probably a bit easier for small, light children to deal with and solid tyres = no punctures. And for £35 rather than £130.

Personally I prefer the metal ones to the wooden ones as they look more like the real thing, but of course they show scratches and can get rusty.

Ds2 and 3 went straight onto bikes with pedals, no stabilisers aged 3 and a half, so it definitely worked for them.

Isla bike for my 2 year old - he's small for his age. Got it as his main present in September and loves it. Very light and easy to use. Would highly recommend. Yes expensive but worth it in my opinion :)

We had a metal one from Decathlon. Good price (£35), adjustable seat, can't get punctures. DD loved it and progressed easily onto a normal bike at 4 when they had bike riding lessons at school. The lady who taught them told me it was easy to spot which Children had a balance bike

DC1 has a puky. Good price, great little bike, has had lots of use and still in a fantastic condition for DC2. Fitted well from a smallish 18mo and just about useable at a tallish 3yo. There is a larger model too. Islabikes look beautiful and hold their value 2nd hand, but we bought another Puky as DC1's 1st bike with pedals and brakes as the first one was so good.
