Adult board game

Any recommendations for grown up board games for multi-generations (not kids)? We've got things like pass the bomb, trivial pursuit, pictionary, etc.

Looking for something a bit newer that we won't have played before. I had a look at cards against humanity but someone's bound to get offended! Any suggestions for a relatively simple, fun game that's not too taxing or likely to start WW3?

Absolute balderdash is great

BiscuitMillionaire · 16/11/2014 22:47

Articulate can be a lot of fun.

HaveYouHeardOfGoogle · 16/11/2014 22:48

We love categorically speaking

youbethemummylion · 16/11/2014 22:49

Rapidough is fun

saintsandpoets · 16/11/2014 22:50

Can't beat trivial pursuit.

saintsandpoets · 16/11/2014 22:50

Sorry, obviously can't read! Balderdash?

WildFlowersAttractBees · 16/11/2014 22:58

Balderdash is a good laugh.

If you're looking for a party type of game that works across different ages, I have heard great things about both Telestrations and Dixit.

www.amazon.co.uk/Libellud-5511302-Dixit-Board-Game/dp/B001OH9EDW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416212729&sr=8-1&keywords=dixit

Telestrations seems very expensive on amazon uk, but here link to reviews on US amazon:

Another vote for Articulate from me. Similar to pass the bomb but more grown up.

Dinnerfor1 · 17/11/2014 08:45

I really enjoy Articulate. I also like Cranium.

Thanks everyone

Lots of ideas to check out

Look online for a fantastic game called Humm Bug - I think they sell it on Amazon. Anyway, I got a copy about 15 years ago and have been playing it every Christmas since. The later the evening, the greater to booze, the more hilarious it gets. It actually suits all generations as you can play in teams

123Jump · 17/11/2014 11:20

Cranium is brilliant!

RunawayReindeer · 17/11/2014 11:35

Taboo? It's like articulate but a little Harder because you can't use certain words

TwigletLola · 17/11/2014 11:44

I second RunawayReindeer - taboo is fantastic, it's the game we always play together as a family because it's so much fun.

Charades is always a fun one, you're best off writing them out a few days/hours in advance though so everyone can play however however if one person isn't interested in doing the acting they can use "but I wrote the charades" as a good excuse to get out of it (I'm looking at you, Mum!)

CrispyCrochet · 17/11/2014 11:46

I second rapidough! So fun.

Quenelle · 17/11/2014 11:48

I bought Ticket to Ride after seeing it recommended on here. Played it for the first time at the weekend and really enjoyed it.

If you have played and enjoyed Risk you would probably like this.

stewierooibos · 17/11/2014 19:21

Mexican train

Badgerlady · 18/11/2014 08:38

Pitt? It's a trading game with cards. Simple but great fun. A loud. Especially after wine.
