Sorry, another DP present thread...

I'm so stuck.

He's love the ikettle but it's too expensive.

Doesn't do toiletries.

Really fussy with clothes.

Hates sport.

personalised gifts aren't really his thing. Same with 'daddy' gifts.

Has a hobby but it's very specific and he just buys whatever he needs for it anyway. So it wouldn't be a present. I wouldn't know what to buy for it anyway.

He's had the same wallet for 10 years and doesn't want a new one. This is the kind of person I'm dealing with.

So far I have a mug socks and chocolates. His birthday is 3 weeks before christmas too.

Any ideas? He's in his twenties.

What about spirits? Jack Daniels do Gentleman Jack which is apparently a slightly posher version. What about any films he would like or a dvd box set? Perhaps tickets to go and see something?

Forgot to say he doesn't drink! Tickets for something might be an idea...

Sounds like my dh, I am totally stuck too , I think I'm just going to get him a few small things, he probably won't use them but at least I wouldn't have wasted a huge amount of money. I have bought him some touch gloves, a F1 t-shirt and I'm going to get him a lap tray to eat his dinner off of ( as he likes to eat in front of the tv ), he likes watching sport but doesn't take part in any .

I have got my dad debenhams vouchers this year because I have bought razors and shaving cream (at his request) for the last 5 years! I figured this way he could choose his own clothes. It does feel a bit impersonal but might be an idea for your DH. You say he doesn't do toiletries, does that include aftershave? I made my DH for his birthday a book of vouchers - control of the tv, takeaway of your choice, unlimited lie in, foot rub etc and of course one get out of jail free voucher. It went down really well! Also what about slippers, or do they fit into the fussy clothing category? What about foodie type presents? I think little gifts might be your way forwards, bah humbug mints, cuff links, toberone, tools for shed, things for car, key finder, childhood memorabelia. Your DH sounds like a tough one!

Coffee machine?
After iPad it's the most used gift I've ever given dh.

Both myself and my husband really don't need anything this year, so we've decided that I'll buy him a nice new suit and he's going to get me a frock and shoes, then we'll get a babysitter a few weeks later and go out for a nice meal. Result I love new clothes

Mine is difficult to buy for and has a birthday a few days after Christmas too.

He's getting a day at a cookery school - expensive, but I'll benefit too!

These are all such lovely ideas but sadly none my DP would go for.

My mums buying us a coffee machine this year.

Doesn't wear aftershave.

Has a beard so can't even do razers!

Key finders a good one though, he's always loosing his keys. I like the vouchers idea too.

If I can't think of anything else I'll probably just get him the ikettle and nothing else. Just wish it wasn't so expensive!

Why are they so difficult to buy for?

Mine has got Top Gear tickets from the kids, a new sat nav and he needs a new lap top so I told him to choose one and I'll pay for it.

I bought DH a Sodastream for his birthday this year (desperation present), which was surprisingly successful.

The present my DH likes best each year is also the cheapest! Several years ago made him a photo desk calendar on vistaprint with all pictures being of him and me or him and dc or things that I think will make him smile.

It is now expected as I have been doing it for several years but it is the thing he looks forward to most. In fact this year's came a few days ago and I showed DSs before hiding it away. They loved it too. He'll take it to work and I'll usually get a spare copy for my desk too.

For the last couple of years I have been doing my mum a wall calendar too which she loves. Obviously different selection of pictures than for DH.

Sounds exactly like my dp who also has a birthday before the Xmas. Bloody nightmare to buy for.
I'm buying him:
Some basic t-shirts and some jeans..he doesn't care for clothes but needs to wear them!
A kitchen knife
Some chocolates

Things that have gone down ok in the past: subscription to time magazine, hoodie, spices from the spicery, jogging bottoms to lounge in, books about physics the universe etc.

For ideas, mine is getting:

Starbucks voucher (works in city but would never spend money on coffee usually, so a real treat)
DVD box set
2 books
mug
Lego key ring torch (we live in a dark street)
Gloves
Hoodie

Other possibilities were Kindle vouchers, desk calendar of kids, new scarf.

Does he read? My dp is happy with a pile of books, if I have no other inspiration.
He also really likes getting a hamper of foodie treats - a big pork pie, 'posh' pork scratchings, pickled onions etc.
