I do this every year. Guests provide all drink, nibbles starters and desserts. I do mains.

We have had.

Roast dinners
Buffets
Curry
Jamie Oliver turkey and leek pie
Egg beans and chips (I kid you not!)

Any ideas for this year? Totally stuck and lacking completely in any inspiration.

Bbq! Get the blankets out and hope for.no rain.

bryonyelf · 12/11/2014 18:58

That would be ok but we always BBQ. DH has his birthday BBQ in January plus we do the big BBQ at Easter (leg of lamb) and agin in the summer.

We do get asked back just in case you wonder. It is just we are central and it saves lots excessive travelling so we can all see each other.

Fake Nandos?

Corn on the cobs, marinated chicken breasts, pitta pockets, salad, halloumi, burger buns, different sauces, spicy rice

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/11/2014 19:24

Deffo chilli -
one meat
one veggie
rice
tortillas (the breads and the crisps!)
bowls of grated cheese
shredded lettuce
guacamole
soured cream
tomato salsa
Will feel like a feast but is pretty easy to do, as the chillis could be done in advance, or shoved into a couple of slowcookers.

Pulls pork as suggested above

Or canapés and lots of drink

Everyone is stuffed by 27th. I'd go for option 2, every time. Grin

Taffeta · 12/11/2014 19:46

Pulled

ConsiderablyBiggerBuns · 12/11/2014 19:57

What Lokibear said

trixymalixy · 13/11/2014 11:54

I did a pulled shoulder of lamb with pomegranate for a large dinner party. we had it with couscous and roasted carrots with sumac. it went down very well.

we had humous, labneh, olives, pitta etc to start

TheSpottedZebra · 13/11/2014 12:22

Sausage sandwiches!

Buy a loads if different breads, and a load of different sausages.
Then do a vat of caramelised onions. Add sauces, coleslaw etc.

Tis my fallback for loads of people round as it's so easy, quite adaptable to veggie etc and everyone loves sausages.

ilovehotsauce · 13/11/2014 13:56

I'd say Mexican as well or tex mex.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/11/2014 15:45

I must admit that, by the 27th, I am usually craving a curry.

bryonyelf · 13/11/2014 16:07

Thanks everyone. Lots of ideas.
