Bedside lamps??

Possibly bit of an odd present but I'd quite like to get my two boys (12 and 9) bedside lights for Christmas. I'd like them to be a bit cool/funky/quirky though. Has anyone come across anything that would meet that description?

Thank you!

Not sure if it is what you are looking for but I got DS a Star Wars Lava Lamp last year - looks like a light saber for about £20.

Not On The High Street do a Tetris.nightlight.

RoadRunner123 · 12/11/2014 13:23

Oh thanks for the quick responses.....I was thinking more of a 'proper' light they can have on to read by, then turn off without having to get up and turn off the main light!

Next have got some fun ones in their children's range - a rocket, a dinosaur, a football I think...though may not be classed as 'cool'!

We got an awesome T. rex bedside lamp from the range my two boys think it's the best thing ever Grin

I remember waking on Christmas day when I was about four. Father Christmas had brought me a little bedside lamp shaped like a little tree with little people/animals in it. It had an orange glow. It really sticks in my mind some forty plus years later as a lovely surprise. So no I don't think it is an odd present. Have a great time.

v cool and arty maybe fir the eldest

I got my step-nephew a mine craft light on amazon. I'm not familiar with the game, but it's a light up cube and comes in red or blue.

RoadRunner123 · 12/11/2014 22:21

Oh alseb that's lovely!

Thank you for looking for me Think and to everyone else for their suggestions. The orange IKEA one and the robot one are both especially great (robot a bit pricey though....but maybe!).

Heleng1982 does your TRex give off much light? Could you read by it?

Our DSs (aged 5, 8 and 10) got these IKEA clip-on lights last Christmas. They love them. They also come as desk lights and in loads of funky colours (search on JANSJÖ, I can't link the search here because of the accent). And they are pretty inexpensive.

candykane25 · 12/11/2014 23:05

Alseb was it ceramic? I think I got the same nightlight. I adored mine.

There are minecraft night lights on Amazon, maybe not for reading though. I believe they are quite small.

I got a great lamp from BHS this week called the milo desk lamp. It was only 11.99 incl the halogen bulb. It has a neck that you can position which is what I like about it. A bit like the ikea lamps only not clip on.

swampster · 13/11/2014 20:00

IKEA does a desk light/work light like the clip-ons too. It is also a tenner.

Floralnomad · 13/11/2014 20:04

I got my DC bedside lights from JL a couple of years ago ,they are the touch ones that have 3 light levels .

evelynj · 13/11/2014 20:46

This had made me decide that ds needs one of those ikea twisty lamps for his room-he has an annoying toy story lamp that sits on the floor & breaks constantly.

I'd love to see the lamp of pps childhoods & sounds like I would like one of those too :)

RoadRunner123 · 13/11/2014 21:10

I still havent decided but think a trip to IKEA could be on the cards. I also saw a nice one on the Habitat website. I was in John Lewis today and saw this which I thought was cute (not for my boys though!).

I'm so pleased with myself....I'm not a very regular poster and that's the first time I've done a link, yay me!

Road runner we read by it when the boys go to bed it's more like a night light than lamp but it lets enough light off . And it doesn't need bulbs it's led light Smile

evelynj · 16/11/2014 08:40

Oh that is sweet rr, think. Want the ikea one now though :)

fairgame · 16/11/2014 08:42

I got ds a bat signal lamp I think it was from findmeagift.com
