Elf on the shelf help

Finlaggan · 10/11/2014 21:11

I want to do elf on the shelf with DCs this year so I was very organised and ordered two look a likey elves from aliexpress in October.

I just emailed the seller to ask how my delivery was going and they've told me the elves are being held at Chinese customs and 'might' be destroyed (in which case they'll refund) so I think it's unlikely they'll get here by 1st December in any case.

I've come to love the creepy little vintage elves and would really like them for DCs but I don't want to pay £30 a pop for them.

Can anyone suggest an alternative that won't that's cheaper but equally as 'vintage' and will get here on time please?

Thanks.

Just to clarify I was getting two for £12 from aliexpress so I'll feel cheated if I have to spend more than £20 for two!

The garden centre near me has some. Could that be an option. Not sure on price but I wouldn't expect them to be extortionate.

I know, I was also Shock at their potential demise, seems a bit harsh. They went on to tell me that their boss is negotiating with customs.
Just hoping there's no ransom to be paid.

I do hope they live up to their mischievous ways and escape to come and live with us, I'd found such good ideas for them on Pintrest too.

Sorry carried away there, ill check out ikea thanks.

Presumably being destroyed because they are rip offs of the originals and fakes?!

worm77daisy · 11/11/2014 06:26

How about these? m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=266729106820848

Does that link work?

Finlaggan · 11/11/2014 06:44

Yes of course they're fakes holly not sure what your point is?

Thanks worm they're really nice but quite expensive. Off to consider if I can justify the cost, they are nice though.

The elves have been destroyed Hmm

It's cause they are seconds and cast off ones, it's a shame cause you can't tell the difference with them.

Finlaggan · 11/11/2014 07:00

They've offered to resend but I'm doubtful they'll get here for 1st December.

If you have a B&Q near you have a look at the Christmas decorations. They have some lovely Elves, about 3-4" tall and would be perfect for the shelf! Grin

DillydollyRIP · 11/11/2014 11:09

I'd like to do elf on the shelf this year after seeing all the funny pictures in Pinterest. Didn't realise they were so ££ though.
Hope your elves are freed in time for Christmas.

tanya1312 · 11/11/2014 11:37

dillydolly also look in card factory/Clinton cards/ sainsburys for cheaper elves

DillydollyRIP · 11/11/2014 12:22

Will try those thanks. Will I have to actually brave RL shops?! I'm dreading shopping in the city it's mayhem.
