Cheaper KitchenAid alternatives?

I know my dad really wants a KitchenAid but would never dream of asking!! I would love to get him one but it is just way out of budget

Does anyone now of any alternatives? My max budget is around £200

I have a kenwood chef it's fab, not as fancy looking as the kitchen aid but just as good and there's loads of optional attachments. Mine is currently 8 years old and still going strong my dads is 32 and has only been serviced once!!!

Have you seen the Kenwood Patissier? They come in gorgeous colours and look beautiful. They come out very well in reviews and I use mine all the time. Downside is that I don't think you can get all of the attachments for it like you can with the Kitchenaid, like the mincer and stuff.

Oooh I love both the Kenwoods and are definitely managable money wise My dad loves Kenwood aswell so thats a win!

Have a look on QVC - they often do easy pay (up to 4 payments , sometimes 3 or 2).
They do loads of different colours, attatchements
IIRC the last TSV (Todays Special Value) had an extra bowl too.

As Sanity said, if his heart is set on a KitchenAid then..........

O got a Kewnwood K-Mix from Costco , it's nice and sturdy but small than the KitchenAid. I already had a handheld (which is quite heavy) so the stand mixer is more versetile.

I've heard great things about Kenwood.

I've recently bought a Kenwood from Currys as they often have them on special offer - mine is the Kenwood KMC510 Premier Chef in white and it was on special offer at about £180 from £349 on their site and Amazon have them for £299.99.

Ps I love my new Kenwood - it even has a lid on it to stop flour/icing sugar covering the kitchen.

Kenwood Chef is £150 in Costco at the moment, the same model is £270 in Tesco direct.

I saw a lovely one in the Lidl catalogue today. The offer starts on Thursday and I am very tempted...

It's on for £79.99 but I actually don't know what would make a good one. Does this look any good please?

The Lidl brand, (is it silver crest?) is supposed to be a good durable brand. I was going to buy a KitchenAid from Lakeland. When I saw it "in the flesh" so to speak, I was disappointed with the quality and finish. It wasn't as powerful as my Kenwood and had fewer attachments. I didn't think it was worth £400.

Kenwood patisserie do a very good one I just brought one for a friend who loves it.

Another option is buy one from the states and get a converter thing it knocks quite a bit off the price if you can find one with not to bad postage

The Kenwood Prospero is super popular too, like a smaller version of the chef but slightly more specced then the Patissier.

As a recent recipient of an actual KitchenAid from my husband for my 40th, I would advise caution on behalf of the gift giver. I am a keen baker and yes, they are ace and beautiful BUT let's not forget it's a household appliance and has a plug at one end. Gutted to receive such a plonky gigantic lump of metal for my 40th - my 40th!!!!! Receiving it made me feel like a gigantic lump of metal. I know I sound like a spoilt brat but really, a little (cheapish) something sparkly or lacy or feminine goes a lot further in my book. Still not over it 3 months later. It's still in its box hoping to morph into a Chanel bag...

We were umming and aahing over getting one vs the kenwood. When we were looking at them in John Lewis there was a kitchenaid saleswoman. We asked her what made the kitchenaid so much better than the kenwood to justify the price and she wasn't able to answer. So we bought the kenwood and I have loved it ever since.

DH got me this a couple of years ago for Christmas, it has come down in price since then. I was over the moon, would much prefer that to somehing lacy and feminine. I realise that makes me sound a tad 50's housewife.

I got my kenwood for my birthday. Also would much prefer that to something lacy and feminine! :o or a handbag! I LOVE it! I can't see what the difference would be between that and the kitchenaid - the spec looks pretty similar.
