Calling Happyland experts...

Hi!

DS will be 16 months ish at Christmas this year. I wanted to get him some Happyland bits. Are there certain sets that are preferred over others? I like the look of the bus and the plane. Any other suggestions?

Also any other present ideas for a 16 month old boy in general? Feeling super organised this year and want to get as much done as I can before it rubs off and I transform back into the lazy madwoman running about town on xmas eve!

DS loved the digger at that age. So did dd. At 6 and 3, they still play with it. The fire engine too, but neither was every that keen on the tractor.

ipswichwitch · 29/10/2014 18:11

The dinosaur is great. Comes with a volcano, caveman and baby as well as a baby dino in an egg. Both DS's love it (3yo and 10mo).
I've got DS2 the zoo and safari animals, and just waiting for his birthday code before ordering the storag box that folds out into a play mat!

ipswichwitch · 29/10/2014 18:12

Oh, we also have the digger too which gets played with every day. It makes a noise and had flashy lights on too

Corneliusmurphy · 29/10/2014 18:14

Think the aliens were most loved and the castle, maybe the farm and a bi-plane.
Least interested in the cave people and shops (we had a lot of happy land)

MrsRaegan · 29/10/2014 18:23

Digger and Dinosaur both out of stock. Will look at farm. Thank you! There's just so much choice.

Aliens appear to be discontinued.

There are some Dino sets on Ebay if you dont mind second hand?

We have the red bus that is well played with, Rose Cottage, a set of just figures, and the Teapot with the mice family (which I adore!)

We got the safari set but dds not fussed on it, prefer the hard rubber animals (is ot Shleck?)

turdfairynomore · 29/10/2014 18:33

My kids are now 20&17. They loved this stuff as tinies!!! We had the houses etc but they adored road/track (3 huge boxes of it!!) and would have built it through every room in the house!!! It's still going strong as I'm a P1 teacher and it is now used in school! It's indestructible!! Money well spent!!!

ipswichwitch · 29/10/2014 19:50

There's a dino on amazon but it comes with a flintstones type car instead of volcano

attheendoftheday · 29/10/2014 20:13

The double decker bus is a big hit here. Also the preschool, but it does make irritating noises. Have got the rocket and mouse teapot for dd2 for xmas and birthday and both look fab.

neddle · 29/10/2014 20:57

The train is pretty good and the old farm set had a tractor that made noises as it went round a track.

Lovelydiscusfish · 29/10/2014 21:32

The zoo is brilliant! Loads of play value in it.

FamiliesShareGerms · 29/10/2014 21:50

It's all great, DD liked the cottage, vets and farm best, along with lots of play sets like the swings and extra people / animals

As well as being organised, keep your eyes open for money off codes (including money off Mothercare, when they also apply to existing ELC discounts - I've bought sets for £10 that would normally be £18 for eg because of the double discount)

MrsRaegan · 29/10/2014 21:59

Its currently on sale, but will bear that in mind thanks Families

Another vote for the London Bus - huge hit with DD and her little friends and was always a bests else when I worked for them. I'd get it sooner rather than later though - in the weeks before Xmas everybody wants one!

98percentchocolate · 29/10/2014 22:00

Bests else = best seller!

campingfilth · 29/10/2014 22:01

we have tons of it and DS 4 loves it all, covers the whole lounge. I don't think you can go far wrong with any of it. I just used to get whatever was half priced in Early Learning at the time.

snappybadger · 29/10/2014 22:04

My ds has loved the little vehicles the best, and secondly the animals. The zoo set comes with buildings/animal habitats but these have never really been played with. We also have the train set which is a good first train set. I have bought ds quite a lot of Happyland but have rarely paid more than 50% of RRP for it (refused to as it so often went on sale!).

RiverTam · 29/10/2014 22:04

nearly 5yo DD still plays with her rocket and mobile moon unit, don't know if they are still available.

iloveeducatingyorkshire · 29/10/2014 22:05

Martian Moon House is one of the best toys I ever bought for my kids. Bought it one Christmas for DD aged roughly 15 months. Still gets played with by most visiting children between the age of 2 and 6 years old.
