Leapfrog LeapReader Junior or alternative?!

My GP want to know what to get DS (3 in Feb) for Christmas. He has a ridiculous amount of toys which will be replenished at Christmas by other people anyway. He absolutely loves reading so wondering if I should ask them to get him this? Or is there a better alternative?

Or would you ask for something completely different? Budget will be about £50.

We have the leap reader (not the new writing one tho that looks fab) and its great, to be honest the kids didn't use it for the books as much as I would have thought but the best stuff is the map, the human body set and the solar system set - they are 3 and 6 now and regularly pull out the sets to hear about world places, do the games etc.
