International gift exchange (for children)

Seen this going around on facebook and thought it looked quite fun :) The idea is you get your child to buy something for around $15 (£10/€12), send it off around the world and see what turns up!

I would rather do a Christmas shoebox to a child in a less fortunate situation. My kids enjoy gathering up a collection of useful items such as a toothbrush, soap, gloves. And add a toy and some pencils. We always wonder where it ended up!
