Can disney infinity 1 figures be used on disney infinity 2?

I have bought my DC the infinity 2 for christmas this year and he would like the incredibles figures and also Elsa. I saw today that the Elsa figure for infinity 2 was £13 and for infinity 1 around £9 so I was wondering whether they both would work on the new model or will I need the infinity 2 version of elsa?

I don't want to pay more for the figures just because it says number 2 on the packet!

Is it the Marvel one you got? I'd like to know if the original figures work on it too.

I wondered about this too so I had a google and it says yes you can use all the 1 stuff (figures, discs etc) with 2.

The leaflet that my DD has said the figures and power discs work on Disney Infinity 2.0 but not the play set packs.

What's the difference between the 2?

Are the play set packs like the spiderman pack that has 2 figures included ? I'm clueless on this.

Elsa is fabulous by the way, she is one of my ds's favourites. There is a frozen pack with Elsa, Anna and two play disks.

I think the bit that won't work is the see through piece that comes with the play pack (but I'm not certain - sorry!)
