Christmas pudding vodka

I want to make some Christmas pudding vodka this year, my question is, do I need to follow a recipe, or can I just cheat and put a Christmas pudding in some vodka?

Oh yes! I had forgotten about this and I want to make it too :)

I don't think you can put a whole pud in, though Wouldn't it go all sludgy? You have to put the fruits and spices in.

Wonder if it would work with rum?

Hmm. I made this for my friends one year and one of them phoned me Christmas night and told me it was 'fucking awful'.

I did the hairy bikers recipe, just strained it into a bottle yesterday- it smells divine.

Ok will go find the recipe. I was just thinking if I broke the pudding up, put it in the bottle, leave to infuse, strain into a jug, then pour into jars it would be ok. But it's probably just me being lax.

Does anyone have a recipe that won't be declared fucking awful for me? (I admit to still being a bit hurt by the rubbish reception of a well meaning gift)

I've made batches with vodka and brandy, I preferred the brandy version as it was a bit smoother.

1l spirits
4tbsp brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
Peel of 1 orange and 1 lemon
25g each of currants, raisins and figs

Mix together, leave for at least 2 weeks, preferably 2 months, then strain through muslin/coffee filter paper into pretty bottles.
