We always watch a Christmas DVD together on Christmas Eve.....it's been Polar Express or the new (ish) Christmas Carol for the last few years. My boys are 12 and 9 now, and this year I'm doing the Christmas Eve hamper for the first time, DVD, pjs, hot chocolate, popcorn etc, so need a new DVD to put in....any ideas which one? Looking forward to the snuggling up together and want that nice Christmassy feeling Smile TIA!

ALittleFaith · 26/09/2014 21:04

Muppets Christmas Carol is my all time favourite!

HermioneWeasley · 26/09/2014 21:05

Hmmm, bit young for Scrooged or Die Hard so probably Elf as I guess they're a bit old for Muppet Christmas carol.

TheThinksYouCanThink · 26/09/2014 21:08

Elf or Miracle on 34th Street

TheThinksYouCanThink · 26/09/2014 21:09

Fred Claus?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 26/09/2014 21:10

Elf or The Grinch id say for that age.

I normally work Christmas Eve but am on Maternity Leave this year. Will have a two month old and a three year old - was thinking The Snowman if anyone thinks that would suit?

Lonecatwithkitten · 26/09/2014 21:11

Nativity or Nativity 2 very popular in this house.

HermioneWeasley · 26/09/2014 21:13

Hacked - snowman and th snow dog was v popular with my 3 year old last year, more so than the original snowman

ALittleFaith · 26/09/2014 21:13

You're never too old for Muppets Christmas Carol!

Elf is awesome though :)

RJnomore · 26/09/2014 21:13

National lampoons Christmas vacation.

KnackeredMuchly · 26/09/2014 21:15

Elf? Fred Claus maybe?

SilentBob · 26/09/2014 21:16

Get thee the freeview christmas channel. Coming soon! All sorts of movies neither you nor I have ever heard of but man they are addictive!

My classic favourites are Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, Muppets Christmas Carol and The Santa Claus but for the non-classics, The Christmas Channel rocks!

Got to be the granddaddy of them all - It's A Wonderful Life. I know it's always touted as being schmaltzy and of course the ending is just that, but there's a lot more to it as well - after all, old Jimmy shouts at his uncle and his family, gets drunk, gets in a fight, tries to kill himself and then there's the nightmare Pottersville etc - I think people forget just how dark some of that film is. Although the golden moments, especially when he's courting his wife, are truly golden. And there's a lot of snappy dialogue as well (eg: 'Ok, out you two pixies go, through the door or out the window' etc.)

Kahlua4me · 26/09/2014 22:03

It's a wonderful life is perfect for Christmas Eve. One of my all time favourite films.

Flingmoo · 26/09/2014 22:05

Jingle All The Way

iseenodust · 26/09/2014 22:08

^^Freeview Christmas channel ?
Yes please.

TwoNoisyBoys · 26/09/2014 22:40

I usually watch Its A Wonderful Life once the boys are in bed Smile I'm definitely thinking Nativity.....and I think we'll have Muppets Christmas Carol too Grin The boys have a Home Alone box set that they watch all year round, they don't like The Grinch, have seen Elf and they weren't impressed (I LOVE it!) and we have the Sky package that includes the Christmas channel, so I reckon that'll be on a fair bit Grin Thank you everyone!
