dd2 adores the smell of lavender, and is dying for a proper lavender soap. preferably with pieces of real lavender in. she is 8, but i would love something really pretty and maybe grown up

There are some nice ones on Amazon. How about the Scottish Fine Soaps one in the nice tin, or the Crabtree and Evelyn one or the L'Occitane one. There are also some very natural looking ones with bits of lavender in. You could even make up a pretty basket or gift box with different ones in.

I made a Norfolk lavender gift set last year for a family member- got bits from eBay, handcream, soap etc. just search Norfolk lavender.

Some lovely products here, I've never tried the soaps but their handcream is fab. Heart shaped soaps are pretty.

There are a few lavender soaps on
Pure Nuff Stuff including the gardener's blend.

Their stuff is good quality.

L'Occitane have gorgeous soaps (though personally, I can't stand lavender Grin )

Lavender isn't easy to propogate, buy her some plants. There are loads of different types IIRC hidcote is popular and easy to grow,

Make sure you cut the lavender properly, it can get a bit runaway and woody then it's difficult to flower (I'm sure there's some online guide) I had to dig up the lavender in my garden when I had morning sickness with DS

i dont mind it luckily. but this year i am trying so hard to think of presents which are useable, or wont take up too much room as we have recently moved to a smaller house (but with more rooms)

The place I linked to sell plants too, lots of different varieties and can advise you on which would suit your garden, I bought some from them recently. Some varieties get very big.
