Thought I would start a thread to discuss ideas for sets/packs you can put together for people. My dc love something a bit different than what they see in the shops as well.
Eg last year I (& think a few mn in bargain thread) put together a survival pack for ds (9).
-camoflauge face paint
-camo wrist band
-making a den sheet

  • survial rope bracelet
-key ring torch -sleeping bag. I bought a plain canvas style duffle bag to put it all in. Ds loved it.

This year I have bought lots of barbie clothes for dd and would like to make some sort of little wardrobe for storing it? If anyone has any ideas on that I'd love to hear them.

I'm doing a survival kit for DS1 this year, he has just got into Bear Grylls.

Also doing story sacks for my younger two, I'm thinking an Owl Babies one for DS3, I've seen some lovely ideas for making Pom Pom owls, I will attach something to them make them into finger puppets.

I am making DD 14 a movie night hamper with DVD's, a popcorn maker, a popcorn holder, popcorn flavouring, a reusable takeaway cup and a cushion and blanket.

I am making a treasure box for my nephew, with loads of small (but baby safe) toys, crinkly fabric, silky fabric, shiny things etc.

I'm doing a teacher kit for my niece ( sister: look away now!)

I don't know all the details yet but it will be a large, sturdy stationery box containing a real register ( can get them on Amazon), whiteboard like they use at school, pack of white board pens, pack of exersize books, pens and pencils of course. Oooooh and I've just thought I could include a teacher's whistle! Does anyone else have any ideas that I could include?

Weekipper · 20/09/2014 18:50

Peso Penguin: some reward stampers or stickers from WH Smith etc!

TheHouseatWhoCorner · 20/09/2014 18:53

What a brilliant idea! The cinema at home kit would be brilliant for DD.

PesoPenguin · 20/09/2014 18:55

Ooh yes I was intending to include those but forgot! Thanks :) ds and Dn play schools all the time and dn loves giving out stickers to ds but I don't have many left atm.

PesoPenguin · 20/09/2014 18:57

Ooh I bet I could get a stamper saying Miss [dn's surname] says well done, or something. Or would you put Miss [d's first name] for a 4 year old?

peso

Teacher stamps! Also home bargains sell packs of 20 exercise book for £1! My dds love school stuff!

Clip board too

jamtoast12 · 20/09/2014 19:56

Amazon best for teacher stuff - have you seen the learning resources play school set? It's great

Tidypidy · 20/09/2014 20:04

Last year we made craft boxes for our eldest dcs. Bought plastic crates with lids from wilkos then filled them with selection of pompoms, pipe cleaners, stickers, foam shapes, paper and card, loads of stuff mostly from wilkos. Worked out about £10 each and they have lasted all year. Am going to add few more bits this year.

Doing a 'real' dr kit for ds. Have a working stethoscope (surprisingly cheap), bandages, gel pack, triangular bandage, strip thermometer, plasters. He can play Get Well soon to his heart's content!

Sewing box and contents for dd1. Just need an idea for dd2, maybe a spy pack.

Notso · 21/09/2014 13:00

I love the idea of a spy pack.

Have been looking on pinterest and saw a reading hamper that looked like a nice idea with books, bookmark, chocolates and a drink in. I think I would add a book light and a book rest.

AtlanticDrift · 21/09/2014 13:52

Love these ideas. The craft pack one is great, as they cost a lot more when bought as a ready made pack.
For teacher a nice mug, or a thermos one for break duty!
Hand santiser/hand cream etc ( I wash my hands a lot in school)
Little post it packs are so handy

Duh I just realised your neice's set is a play teachers set! I thought you meant she'd just started as a new teacher Blush

Love idea of a teacher kit - dd (4) will love that.

Am doing her a 'real' doc kit like a pp said too

306235388 · 21/09/2014 20:51

Any ideas on where to get a cheap personalised stamp for the teacher kit?

PesoPenguin · 21/09/2014 20:56

Lol AtlanticDrift not quite yet she only started primary school 2 weeks ago!

The real Drs set is a great idea. I bought ds (5) some real bandages for his toy Drs set and they're literally his most played with thing!
