Seen a good offer on a nook

Has anyone bought one for dc aged 5-7?

What are the kids books like?
Can they use it well?
How much are the kids books?

There's lots less choice of kids books compared to kindle. The prices are usually cheaper on kindle too.

BUT, you can hack it and use it for kindle books, and use it as a B&W tablet. I haven't done it yet but think I will.

I bought it for my 6 year old last year. It's actually nicer to use than I've found the kindle keyboard or kindle basic to be.

Which Nook - e-reader or tablet?

I have both - the e-reader arguably offers more choice than a Kindle as you can download anything in the EPub format. See Foyles site to get a sense of the possibilities. The e-reader is beautifully designed - a great single function gadget.

The tablet is basic and very good for family use. Have had a battery fail quickly on me though and the customer support hasn't been that easy to access. (Long queues on phones).

I bought a Nook ST for myself last year and I love it. Loved it so much, I've bought DD a Glowlight one for Christmas. They tend to price match with Kindle books a lot and they have brilliant monthly sales and daily find offers.

I bought DD's from Littlewoods catalogue - there was an offer that gave you £30 off your first order when you spend £60. The Glowlight was £59 so I bought a cheap top for four quid in the sale to round it up. Essentially though I got a Glowlight for less than the price of the Simple Touch Grin
