Handmade stockings

Hi
My sister has made all of us a stocking for Christmas. I'd love to do the same for her, but not being the most craftiest of people, I would need something simple to follow but still looks good (well....as good as I can make!!)

Has anyone any ideas where I can buy a kit? There are lots out there but some are really expensive. I was thinking £10-15 and a patchwork/felt type kit.

Any help, gratefully accepted :-)

Ps: 111 sleeps to go \o/ x

Have a look on Pinterest for ideas. Often just buying the felt is cheaper than buying whole kits.

What sort of stocking?
I've made various sorts, it's basically draw a stocking shape onto fabric, make sure the foot looks supidly wide and the top is wide enough to get stuff in.
Sew together, hem top.
Add a hanging loop out of ribbon or matching fabric. You can decorate with things like bells if you want to.

You can make the about 6" high in felt for "doll's stockings" or to hang on the tree. Make them out of fleece fabric (2' high)to make a large stretchable stocking that takes a lot of preents, or 1' cotton Christmas fabrics for medium amounts-I've used those for party bags for dc's parties too.

Fleece is easy to sew with, no fraying, you could glue on applique felt shapes, look on ebay.

I made mine out of felt, and used contrasting Christmas fabric for the cuff (personalised the cuff with cross stitched name). They're so easy and cheap to make.

Find templates online, or draw your own if you can
