Whats yours?

Mine is a tie between 2013 Sainburies advert and the John Lewis about the boy who wanted to give the present.

Irn Bru Snowman

I liked last years Sainsburys. But Christmas officially starts for me when the Coca Cola advert comes on.

John Lewis Snowman advert

Waitrose with the lady hanging the wreath then the little boy hanging a tree decoration and the girl waiting for her daddy.
But it got slated for showing a military helicopter - deemed insensitive to soldiers who weren't coming home for Christmas (even though the man on the 'copter was a photographer)

Agree OP, JL boy with the present. I was heavily pregnant with DS first time I saw it and just burst into tears at it!

Stuck between Irn Bru Snowman and the John Lewis one with the little boy giving presents . . . couldn't be more different!!

JerseySpud · 24/08/2014 10:46

I loved the sainburies one at the end. Where they were sending a message to Dad and he just walked in through the door. I cried. But i'm a wuss lol.

I also liked the apple advert last year.

I can't decide between John Lewis and the Boy or the John Lewis snowman.

Douglas, the lurpack ad was a favorite as a child.

The Old all singing, all dancing Woolworths ones from the 80s. They make me feel all tingly and nostalgic for childhood Christmases Grin

Bloody hell, £6.89 for a tin of Quality Street 30-odd years ago! They must have been far more, ahem, desirable then Grin

Just lost my post ! The tin was over 5lb in weight though. Now the tins are 750 gms a bit less than 2lb. so they were 3x the size in 1981 . The retail price index gives 6.89 in 1981 as about 20 now so we are paying the same. just getting though more tins.

ShatnersBassoon · 24/08/2014 18:24

DeBeers diamonds ones from the 1980s. I'm getting excited thinking about them Grin

Magmatic80 · 28/09/2014 14:33

Ooh the famous grouse ads. I LOVE the music.

I totally don't run in from other rooms to watch grinning when I hear it .

Shizlack · 28/09/2014 15:15

The JL one from 2010 I think....the one where everyone's traveling home holding presents think man carrying teddy home under jacket, parents sneaking a rocking horse upstairs. Some people were a bit unhappy JL portrayed a dog in his house outside in the snow with fairy lights, but that's the advert that made me most weepy!

KnackeredMuchly · 28/09/2014 15:21

Hands down

Always the coco cola one! It is the start of the Christmas...

wheretoyougonow · 28/09/2014 22:26

I liked the boots one last year where you thought the young lad was causing trouble but he was secretly leaving presents for everyone. I also love the JL one with the boy waiting to give his present.
Can't wait to see this years although when the coca cola advert comes on I know it really is Christmas Smile
