Does treacle change the taste a lot?
I don't eat either Christmas pudding or Christmas cake but make both for the family. The ingredients are essentially the same (ish) but the cake calls for one dessert spoonful of treacle and comes out really dark. The pudding doesn't and despite using dark brown sugar and brandy is still fairly light in color. If I add treacle will it darken it up? Will it change the flavor?
